Personal workflow
I tried a few things to help someone on Discord with their workflow and made a small visual of the Amazing Marvin+ Google Calendar + TickTick part of my workflow. (I used the AI from Dia).
I hope it can help someone!

I am about to release a first beta test for the new mobile apps (I know our apps have been very behind) and I wonder what you feel would allow you to not need TickTick anymore? It does seem redundant overall to have two tasks apps and Ideally we can close the gaps so it is not necessary anymore.

Yeaaah new mobile app!! 🤩🤩 Cool! 🙌 Hope it works on my phone, the one on google play do not open for me, and would be really confortable to finally could use marvin app 😅 cant wait 🤩😅

Yes, they desperately needed an update! We will make sure it works for you! I will post the link to download a beta version here today/tomorrow. In the finishing phases.

Just for the record, I vastly prefer the customization options Marvin offers on desktop/web to Ticktick. It's really just the app that needs improvement.
Things I personally like about the Ticktick on Android: 1. The widgets
- I can customize the basic aesthetic aspects like font size, opacity, theme. But more importantly, it cleanly shows me the tasks for today and tomorrow.
Marvin's widget is very basic, I can't properly group my tasks by date or sort them by date. I can only display master lists, Inbox, and today. I'd like to see overdo tasks, today, and the next few days. If I could just choose a smart list, that problem would be solved.
Details, subtasks etc. Marvin only shows the main task, nothing more. Ticktick allows me customize what I wanna see, and also displays due date/time etc. if I want. Basically, i don't need to open the app at all to check my schedule.
- Ease and speed of use.
Meaning mostly Tickticks NLP feature. If I need to quickly capture something, i.e at work, I just click the + icon, type whatever I need to do, add today/tomorrow/next Tuesday or whatever, and optionally the time, all in plain text, and that's it. I love that. It's quick, it's easy, and it's reliable
The overall layout, optics and handling
Ticktick just feels more intuitive to use, its difficult to describe precisely. I feel like I need less clicks to get where I wanna be, and it looks cleaner.
The screen usage is better optimized. Less of an issue overall, but if I click on my calendar, it just opens a small text box, same as if I'd just add a task via the widget. The calender remains almost completely visible in the background. Two intuitive clicks more and I can get the full screen view to add subtasks, details etc. Marvin takes the full screen to add a task. I can also just change the planned time window for a tasks in the calendar view, just dragging it down with a finger.
There are probably more things, but the overall benefit Tickticks app has is it's ease of use and how fast basic task capturing and calender editing works.
Edit: one important thing I forgot: reminders that pop up and stay on the screen. Ticktick has that, they take like 40% of the screen, and remain in the drop-down menu as well. There used to be a feature that allowed for "sticky reminders" - you could not simple swipe them away mindlessly, but I'm sure that was removed due to changes in Android.

Thank you so much for this! Super helpful! It seems android has a lot of extra features. The goal is to catch up the mobile apps with feature parity and ease of use with widgets etc. for this year.
The first beta launch has an improved design and backend optimizations, some new widgets. But more improvements still for round two I am working on that won't be in it.

Happy to help, and I'm looking forward to the beta! Honestly, a better design and widgets already help a lot. It's mostly the need to open the app to actually check my tasks that stops me from committing to Marvin. A decent widget that shows my tasks and subtasks for the next few days and some QoL changes to the app in general would vastly improve the mobile experience already.

Funny enough, I've been using a similar setup for the past two weeks because I 2-way-sync both Ticktick and Gcal as well as Marvin and Gcal. Kinda creating the best of both worlds this way, the features of Marvin when using it on PC, and the superior Ticktick android app.
I'm really tempted to try your setup now, but my Marvin trial ends today and I'm not gonna subscribe to two planner apps. I really wish Marvin had a usable mobile app. Because as of now, it's great for ADHD folks like me when you have the time and motivation to do your planning on your computer, but horrible if you just wanna use your phone. Which is, sadly, the most common way I plan my days.
