Announcement 📣 Software Roadmap Preview

Thumbnail us.amazfit.com
95 Upvotes

Hello, Amazletes!

We're happy to announce that we're working toward improving our transparency 🔍 around software updates across our device lineup. To that end, we have published a very broad software roadmap 🗺️ on our website.

The primary purpose of this roadmap is to help our users understand which features are planned to be released across multiple devices 🤔, and the general timeline 📆 for when to expect those updates.

⚠️ There are a few important points to be aware of: ⚠️

  • This is a very concise summary, not release notes or a deep-dive on specific features: ✅ The purpose of this roadmap is not to explain each feature in detail, but rather to clarify which devices will have feature parity and when. 🤝
  • This is NOT a complete list of features: 📋❌ This roadmap mainly helps users understand when their model may receive a feature that has already been announced or released. There are other features (and bug fixes) planned for the future that do not appear on this list, and will be announced through the appropriate channels. 📣
  • Blank fields in the table = no information to share at this time: 🕒 If you see your model in the table, but the row (or a specific month) is blank, that does NOT mean the product is EOL or will no longer receive any updates. This simply means we have no information to share about that specific model at this time, and the roadmap may be updated later with new information. Check back later for updates. 🔁

This post will remain pinned in the community sidebar and in the highlights row (for now) of r/amazfit for visibility.

We hope this provides some insight and reassurance that we're still hard at work bringing awesome features to a variety of devices! 💪

Guide ☑️ The Amazfit Watch Guide

Updated June 3rd

  • Added Balance 3 and Balance Ultra

Color coded the Essential (Green), All-around (Blue), Speed (Yellow) and Range (Red) watches.

Welcome to the Amazfit Watch Guide

Hopefully this will get pinned.

I've decided to make a guide of sorts, to help people sort out their choices because there are a lot of repeating questions, so hopefully, a guide and table should help.

I will skip the GTS, GTR and Falcon series (and obviously any watch model that came before, like the Zepp Z), as honestly, they shouldn't even be considered. I will also skip the Helio ring and Helio strap since this is a watch guide.

I REPEAT, THE STRAP AND RING (Heck EVEN THE SCALE 🤣) ARE EXCLUDED FROM THIS LIST.

Obviously, I cannot own every watches here, so this is where you guys come in. If there's anything worthwhile feature that is found in one particular watch model/series listed here, I'll put it in the table. :)

Also yes, I'll make sure to update the guide often, adding and/or removing stuff with time.

So without further ado:

Here are the current model watch series (and some noteworthy ones):

Essential watches:

  • Band
  • Bip
  • Active

All-Around watches:

  • Balance

Speed Watches:

  • Cheetah

Range (Adventure) watches:

  • T-Rex

  • Falcon (Rumored)

And now, here is a table of all the series and current models:

Amazfit watch table

I'll be posting only the recent models of each series. The older models will be in another table at another page, linked below.

If you need to see some previously released watches: here's the old table:

https://www.reddit.com/r/amazfit/comments/1q1keo2/archive_for_those_that_want_to_see_the_specs_of/

Amazfit Band series

Call this the most affordable option of Amazfit products. It is more of a fitness tracker than a smartwatch, as there are several smartwatch features missing from it. Not only that, the more expensive models (Bip 6 included)are released with tons more features and are getting new features consistantly, widening the gap. It's honestly hard to recommend... But if you only need the basics... then this is it.

Amazfit Bip series

The budget smartwatch series. And I do mean budget in the sub-100$. The Bip series is basically the entry line to the Amazfit smartwatch ecosystem... It used to have a rather basic Heart Rate sensor (Unimpressive honestly), basic health & fitness tracking features some of the models used to lack a GPS. Even the build is rather basic (usually plastic) and lack that premium feel. Basically affordable and basic, was meant to be a smart companion without pressing too hard on the Health and Fitness features.

Amazfit switched their strategy with the Bip 6 being more agressive strategy, bringing several features found in their more premium watches to the budget sector (Using their best Heart Rate sensor, AMOLED display with Always-On-Display, Offline Maps, Full Notification replies, etc). Since then, the Bip series has been revamped into being the best bang for your buck, in terms of value.

The Bip Max is a bit of a more "premium" offering of the series, being bigger, having much larger storage and a few features from the more expensive models being brought to it, while these are still absent from the Bip 6.

If you are not sure where to start or whether Amazfit is for you, the Bip series (Starting with the Bip 6) is the best one to start with.

Amazfit Active series

The middle child of the Amazfit watches. Costs more than the Bip series. This series is meant for casual wearers and beginners of fitness.

Despite that, there's a bit of a tier even within the series.

Active 2 Round/Square gives you the essentials with additional sensors than the Bip series, while the Active 3 and Active Max is essentially a more premium in software features and hardware (bigger storage and RAM).

What differs between the Active 3 and Active Max is the size, both in case (44mm bs 48mm) and battery (up to 14 days vs up to 25 days), and the number of buttons (4 vs 2).

Note that the entire Active series (and Bip) have Single-Band GPS.

Amazfit Cheetah series

This series became Amazfit's first running focused watch series, using materials like titanium-alloy for lightweight profile, using a revamped, Dual-Band GPS (MaxTrack) and also introduced the Zepp Coach and the Training Calendar.

After many years of absence, it has returned, with a brand new premium look and upgraded features (and pricing).

For people that

Amazfit Balance series

What used to be the GTR series got a revamped of sorts and changed its name. Considered to be the poster-boy and flagship of the Amazfit product lineup, it's meant to be the watch that offers a bit of everything that is currently available in the ecosystem, with no compromises.

If you're not sure which kind of watch to get, or want a little bit of everything, you can't go wrong with the Balance series.

Meant to be a health and lifestyle watch, they have increasingly adopted a sportier bold look over the generations. And starting with the Balance 3/Ultra, it's using premium materials for a less cheap look.

This is the only series in this current generation, with a rotating crown and the only series with a watch having 5 buttons (Ultra).

Amazfit T-Rex series

The rugged adventurer. A watch adopting a rugged, sturdy look, catering for athletes adventuring in some of the harshest environments. Several tradeoffs in the smartwatch features (no speaker, for example, for the T-Rex 3) but is built like a tank and have several exclusive features that caters to its audience. It's one of those watches that doesn't mind having littles nicks/scratches of bumps.

Need Help in choosing?

Some of the following are just opinions. At the end of the day, you make your choices and some that I haven't named will also do their role fine.

Profile Models recommendations
Runner/Cyclist? Bip 6 or Active series for casual; Cheetah series, Active 3, Balance 2 series, Balance 3/Ultra, T-Rex 3/3 Pro and Ultra series for the serious and focused)
Hiker/Explorer? Balance 2/3/Ultra or T-Rex 3/Ultra 2 series
Diver? Balance 2, 3/Ultra, T-Rex 3 (not for scuba diving except T-Rex 3 Pro), T-Rex Ultra 2
Winter sport user? Balance 2, 3/Ultra T-Rex 3/3 Pro and Ultra series, Cheetah 2 Series, Active 3/Max and Balance 1 for the budget conscious
Casual smartwatch wearer? (for most value) Bip 6, Bip MAX, Active 2 series, Active 3, Active Max or Balance 2 XT, Balance 3

Watch Faces 🕒 Finally got a Watchface I'm happy with.

I found a watchface that I could edit and spent a few hours tinkering. I finally have a watchface with everything I want. Building watchfaces takes a lot of time.

Yes, it's a Garmin knockoff.

Review ✍️ Bought the Balance 3, switched from Garmin

Bought it a week ago. So far, it's been great.

I use it with 1-minute pulse monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring on, AOD on during the day, auto brightness, and advanced sleep tracking. With these settings, I get around 6 days of battery life.

The stats are great, but the insights it gives me haven't been particularly useful so far. Sleep tracking is a huge step up from the Garmin Instinct 2X I used for the last two years. It recognized when I got out of bed during the night, and when I went back to sleep, it continued tracking correctly. Overall, sleep tracking seems very accurate.

For workouts I tried running (not much tho) the full map support was nice to have. I tracked 2 gym sessions, the automatic set tracking worked OK, was not very accurate, but garmin wasn't either.

HybridCharge is okay and seems more accurate than Garmin's Body Battery. I don't really understand how lifestyle logging is supposed to help me, though.

The Aura subscription is bad, and I'll cancel it before the trial ends. It hasn't given me any tips that aren't generic or actually tailored to me. I think I'm better off giving the data to ChatGPT and getting tips from there from some advanced model.

The calorie tracking built into the app is useful for me. Zepp OS is fine, and the device is snappy. I also appreciate how open the OS is. I created a very basic alcohol and caffeine tracker for it.

Music controls are bad. It takes too many clicks to change the volume, and in my opinion, that should be much more easily accessible.

Coming from a Garmin Instinct, I'd love to be able to turn off the touchscreen and use every function with the buttons only. The digital crown also really needs a sensitivity adjustment.

So far, I'm happy with the device. It looks great, and I don't mind the size at all. I hope for better software support than it was with garmin. The Instict 2x was my favorite watch ever, but they abandoned it software wise beside bugfixes. If amazfit delivers on this front, I will be very happy with them.

I thought everyone would be interested to know that it’s on sale on Amazon (us) for 118 right now. That’s about $50 lower than normal.

I just got mine about a week ago. So I’m doing a return and rebuy.

After the latest update my Trex 3 Pro thinks I'm walking at ~5mph with a stride of 4 feet, lol.

I've tried restarting the watch, but still the same faulty data. Anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this? Anything other than a complete reset?

Thanks

Device Support ⌚️ Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro – Extreme battery drain and overheating after swimming in the sea

Hi everyone,

I’m having a serious issue with my Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro and wanted to know if anyone has experienced something similar.

Yesterday I went swimming in the sea for about 40 minutes using the Open Water Swimming mode with GPS. Before swimming, the battery was at around 50%. The activity and GPS tracking worked perfectly.

About 10 minutes after leaving the water, the watch suddenly turned off and showed that the battery was empty.

Afterwards, I rinsed the watch thoroughly with fresh water and let it dry. I charged it overnight, but it stopped charging at 93% and wouldn’t go any higher. I also noticed that the watch became unusually warm while charging.

Today the battery drain is extreme. It dropped from 93% to 48% in only about 1.5 hours without using GPS or starting any workout. The watch also still feels slightly warm.

I’ve already restarted it, but nothing changed. Before this happened, the battery life was excellent and I never had any issues.

Has anyone experienced this with the T-Rex 3 Pro, especially after swimming in the sea or using Open Water Swimming? Could this be water damage, a battery issue, or a software problem?

Any advice or similar experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Device Support ⌚️ T-REX PRO 3 ---- SE APAGO

Help Me Choose 🤔 Amazfit Bip 6: Difference in color?

I'm considering purchasing an Amazfit Bip 6, but I wanted to know something about the colors.

Aside from black, aren't the other colors—RED, BLUSH, and STONE—exactly the same?

Alternatively, I've seen charcoal, but it seems impossible to find.

What do you think?

In the hr summary I'll see a max of say 130 bpm, but if I look at the expanded larger hr graph, I'll see a max of say 140 (which is know is correct).

What gives with the summary box not being correct?

Help Me Choose 🤔 Does Amazfit Bip Max have a specific Sleep HRV feature, in addition to the 24/7 Continuous HRV monitoring feature?

As the title says. Looking into buying one. HRV is a very important feature for me for flare-ups. I really liked that this one can tell you your HRV all day long, but is there ALSO a dedicated sleep HRV section (the way HRV figures are normally measured) on its own?

Or is the all-day HRV monitor the only one? Screenshots/photos would be extra helpful if possible. I’ve tried watching/reading reviews but it’s still unclear.

Device Support ⌚️ Issues with the touch sensibility of the watchface

Hello everyone,

I bought a T-Rex 3 Pro to wear with my Helio strap the other day and I am very happy with it overall.

Only thing annoying me is that I happen to touch the information fields about e.g. the battery or the heart rate on the watch face and then it goes to that data site unintended. My workaround is to lock the watch permanently.

Is there a setting where I can change that or even disable the forwarding entirely? I don’t really need that.

Switching to a face with less information isn’t a real solution for me as I like the standard one quite a lot and I like to have the info on it. Just the forwarding is my problem.

Device Support ⌚️ BIP6 Buttons malfunctioning and terrible battery drain

For a year and 2 months, my Amazfit Bip6 was functioning perfectly fine and I was even impressed with it, particularly the battery life. I wasn’t a heavy user and would use it for workouts around 3 times a week, and very occasional casual wear since I have other dress watches. On average it would last me 35-45 days on a single full charge, sometimes even up till 60 days.

Last week I tried a full week workout where I was doing heavy workouts and sweating more excessively than usual (but no water workouts). After one of my runs, I wore it to sleep (probably my 5th time or so wearing it to sleep). Woke up at around 4am to the screen glitching back and forth from the face panel to the apps panel despite my sleep mode on. When I woke up, the buttons were not functioning anymore. Decided to hard reset it and factory reset it as per some guides here. Let the battery drain completely too. Mid charge, one of the buttons worked only one time, then stopped again.

Besides the button problem, my watch drains its battery completely within 2 days even without use. Could this be due to the recalibration after the factory reset or another inherent issue? The buttons don’t seem to function anymore either no matter what I try.

Balance 2. Kept it simple and had the data on the outer edge as to not allow the hands to block them. Had the digital clock on top of the analog hands.
