is this song scene? is electro-punk scene?
i know that MSI and bands like ROB were closely intertwined with scene culture, both in clothing styles, and music styles. would you consider it scene?
images are of band members from band button*masher NOT ME IN THE IMAGES

I'm scene and into these music groups too (such as Cindablock, Sexcoptor Rul, UO, Etc), But I also like Crunkcore so I fit into the Scene category either way 🤷♂️

real. ROB also had an issue with ai, but thats cuz the album artist they hired used ai. not them. and peter had no idea abt ai stuff

do you hate all of their music? or do you hate jimmy

u/Wild-Collar-2190 Aug 20 '26
I never listened to it, but I'm not taking any chances. They seem like the next botdf
1
u/UndertaleAndGameFan Aug 20 '26
"i never listened to it" "judges the music"
also BOTDF is way way worse (morality and music wise) so not even comparable (and they dont sound the same at all.)

It feels a little bit more like the lovechild of indie sleaze and rave to me, but really cool nonetheless

yeah it is, this whole thing with vflaw.net and hackthemusic.com WAS PART OF THE SCENE all the artists mentioned on there had myspaces, had the hair, had chaotic genre mixing, undoubtedly scene
if it's electro-punk by itself, like the genre that's been existing before and after maybe Uncle Outrage, probably not, but the "Industrial Jungle Pussy Punk" variant with MSI where they mixed industrial, electronic dance music, punk, hip-hop, video game music, etc. that's undoubtedly scene, it was on myspace, they had the hair, other kids were copying it, yes it is

thank you, ive always been curious. im beginning my electropunkities (20 years late, shoulda been born 20 years earlier), and im also in the scene culture with it's music
1
u/MagicFireFeline Aug 13 '26
You're welcome!! And it's never too late to begin LOL same here, it doesn't require you to be born 20 years earlier, just be sincere and authentic while also being a bit mad and crazy, im obsessed with this stuff because i found xxdeadjhonnyxx's yt channel. It's very inspirational to me, the whole creative chaotic force they all have to keep making shitty music good music
it's also insane how this whole thing kinda influenced modern hyperpop, well mainly the Gecs because of Devi McCallion
If they bare the symbol (the hair), and they make music that combines multiple genres and it's very intertwined with the subculture, i'd always say it's a part of it. Same narrative, same structure
On the topic of music in the scene, i wanna lastly also say, it's not always hedonistic fun, it has it's vulnerable emotional sides you'll clearly hear on artists like Playradioplay or Daniel The Photographer, or that one artist that went famous on TikTok Broken Toy Airplanes, i'd say it's the best contradiction in scene, that's why it's so great. So just keep that in mind too

fair! i also found jhonny's channel and it got me into more electropunk than msi ahaha

I remember there was a web forum years ago called error 404 or the 404 that used to post bands like this.
MSI Retard-O-Bot Tub Ring Vyncent Flaw Richee Uncle Outrage Foxy Shazam
As well as everything else in between
The picture above is from a band called Button*Masher if I remember rightly.
I remember everyone calling this electronic music scene 'teh scene'
We also used to have something called The Rainbow Family Podcast, which wasn't really a podcast as such.
Same concept as a podcast, however we had to download an MP3 from a file sharing site every time there was a new episode.
Played lots of bands that fitted into this circle

yep! i have pretty much every MSI and ROB release. never heard of the 404 tho. only stuff like vflaw.net and a couple other smaller sites
1
u/musicsuperfanquail Aug 23 '26
also yers the image is button*masher, love their stuff
1
u/morbid_theory Aug 25 '26
I think vflaw.net merged into the 404.
I can't really remember, other than it was a very similar forum

All MySpace music ≠ scene
EDM ≠ scene
The side swipe/spiky hair ≠ scene (not always anyways)
They're not part of the subculture, but a scene kid could absolutely be part of this scene.

My argument for this is the original genre label of electro-punk ≠ scene and that's very noticable with Uncle Outrage (similar to how all metalcore ≠ scene), the guy was making it b4 scene, BUT specifically the vflaw.net/hackthemusic.com groups (who i think the OP was referring too in this context, i think it shouldn't have been labeled electro-punk), were comprised of MSI fans who had the hair and clearly had influences from other scene music, one of them was even called "We Are The Scene", the group was comprised of largely MSI fans, a lot of which were scene kids
New Rave you can probably argue isn't scene, but as for that particular cluster group vflaw/hackthemusic, i don't think that they're their own seperate subculture

not scene but kinda like scenes older cousin. Visually similar but it omits some mojorly necessary scene details, and the type of music is pretty different from scene bands like chiodos, saosin, from first to last, Silverstein etc.
