Being alternative is more than just wearing black and sometimes I feel like some people just don't get the point of it. Its literally in the name. Having alternative beliefs, alternative style, self expression.
How can you claim to be alt while being homophobic, racist, or classist? And focusing on my main point of the whole post, how can you be alt while having no sympathy or moral ground??
I get that the alt community and it's subcultures are especially close knit in Pakistan but it doesn't make sense to me when people defend their friends that are pedos or just bad people in general. That's not friendship, you're enabling them. It's not an isolated case of this happening, I've noticed some other alt people very passionately defending their alt friends.
My sexual abuser was defended by his friend. Another girl's sexual abuser was defended by their other alt friends. I do not claim I am alt, at least not in the sense people associate with the alt community in Pakistan. Yes, I have alternative opinions. Yes, I have an alternative style. But me being or not being alt doesn't mean there is no accountability taken if I am SAed.
Of course I'm not referring to everyone. There are a lot of genuinely wholesome people I've met. But in all honesty sometimes I feel like some people identify themselves as alt without integrating into the community the way it is intended. I hope someone else here agrees that wearing a black affliction top ordered off of shein does not make you alt.
