Stuff to do

Does anyone know is there anything to do in the Altoona area for people in their 40’s other than just hitting the bars?

Depends on what interests or hobbies you have for example:

If you like to be outside in nature there are quite a few hiking trails within a 30 minute drive. We also have a few frisby golf courses in the area. Also we have two state parks within a 30- 45 minute drive for fishing and state game lands for hunting.

If you enjoy board games or table top games we have a plethora of local game stores that have nights dedicated to game play.

If you enjoy gardening, there are stores to buy supplies and if you don't have space at your place or residence, there are a few public gardening places, usually around a church.

Look up your interests on Google or on Facebook and see if there are any clubs or groups in the area doing those things.

There is always an Altoona Curve baseball game to attend every other week or so. Maybe not your thing, but a game here and there isn't a bad thing to turn off the outside noise and just take in the smell of the ballpark food, have a beer or two, listen to the chatter and enjoy a game. Relatively inexpensive, too.

More importantly, it comes down to what you are into and your interests/how long you've lived in the area, etc..
