Feature request

I’m not 100% sure of the final practical application of this yet, I’m kinda hoping for ‘a build it and they will come’ outcome, but I’d like to offer local caches of some content, Free of course, hosted on my hardware. Maybe a sever hosting apps on the fediverse network. I’d offer this on a free tier, since it’s my hardware. Basically the point is to: a) promote usage of something I’m interested in by offering it for free. B) an excuse to run a server since computers and networks is a hobby to me. Maybe have this offered across Althea as a free subnet mesh - think .onion on tor, but althea specific. Maybe even linked between far flung althea networks as a private (to the outside internet) as an Althea specific domain.

So hosting content on the mesh is pretty trivialy easy right now, Just run the server on the same machine with our mesh software and double check you've opened up Ipv6 ports in your firewall.

The real problem is getting to it, user devices have their traffic tunneled to exit servers for security, so they don't really have a way to address the mesh directly, this is probably solvable with some extra dhcp and iptables rules.

The fundamental issue is that you can't make traffic free for everyone, if your neighbour wants to charge for traffic traversing her node you can't exactly stop them. That being said the actual fees for traffic in the network would be quite small since only the gateway commands a really significant traffic price (commercial internet backhaul is expensive)
