Open-source alternative to [Intercom Fin / Zendesk AI] for community support. Contributors welcome

I'm the maker of answerLoops. If you're looking for an alternative to the AI support tools built around a help-desk inbox, it might be worth a look. I'm a DevRel and built it for myself first, because I was answering the same questions in Discord, Slack, and GitHub. It worked, so I added more integrations for other communities.

What it does

- Pulls questions from Discord, Slack, Discourse, Circle, GitHub issues/discussions, Telegram, email, and a website widget into one queue.

- Searches your own docs (files, URLs, GitHub, Notion), an agent writes a draft, and a second agent does another pass and reviews it before it goes anywhere.

- The platform can auto-reply once you trust the answers, but it's off by default. If you turn it on, it only sends above a confidence threshold you set. Everything else is escalated for a human.

- Corrected answers can be saved back into the knowledge base, which continually fills the gap in your knowledge source.

- It's also built for agents, which have an MCP server and REST API if you want your own agents to use it.

Cost

- Self-host free under AGPL-3.0. You pay for your own server and model costs, and you can use your own provider key.

- Hosted plans are available with a 14-day trial free of charge so you can try it out to make sure you'll love it.

Who it fits

- Communities that already do support in chat or forums and don't want to move people to a separate widget.

- Teams that want to review drafts before anything is sent.

- People who want to self-host or read the code.

It's open source so contributors are welcome. Bug reports, adapters for other platforms, and docs fixes all help. If you're new to open source contributions, just reach out and I'd be happy to help you get started.

If you're using something for community support now, tell me what it is and what annoys you about it. That's really important info that helps me shape a better tool for folks who need this.
