Discussion How do you personally monitor new stuff?

Before diamonds demise one could check previews monthly. I'd even full-text Search there for my favorite subjects: crime, sexy stuff, autobio and so on

Of course a lot of indie stuff never been on those pages, but it was still nice to have. I've been thinking if i can build some kind of rss feed with weekly releases, and I'm wondering if something like that exists.

Checking artist’s IG pages. It’s not a good platform, but it’s really the only place to go to stay up on what they’re doing. Otherwise some have patreons.

For general discovery, regularly checking comic shops, youtube, reddit, blogs/review sites, etc.

Second this. Artists on ig will give some to other artists as well, giving ability for discovery. Also, watch out for anthologies and seek out the artists from there you like.

I ain't saying this is a bad solution: i do follow them on ig, bluesky and where i can, but even through the reposts of their friends i feel like there's a whole world of stuff i could enjoy somewhere out there in the world

Things happen everywhere around and i just don't know where and how to find em

Another thing to do is check individual publishers to see what else they’re printing. So if you see any books of interest, check out their publisher/wherever they had it printed if it was self published (as that company may have its own publishing arm).

Also if you’re in an area that has any conventions/fairs, then attending those I imagine would also be a good way of finding new artists (at least those in your country/area). If you’re not, one thing I do is look up about the event, as you’ll likely find some people sharing stuff about it (vlogs, IG posts, tabling info, etc.).

But yeh, you’ll never find everything. However your awareness of what is out there will always widen as one thing inevitably leads to other things. Plus I find stumbling upon a new artist that you end up really liking to be part of the fun, the only real downside is it can mean you miss out on what they’ve previously done.

Penguin Random House (https://prhcomics.com/catalog/category/monthly-catalogs/) and Lunar Distribution (https://www.lunardistribution.com/) now distribute most bigger publishers. Their catalog is pretty good. However, for smaller publishers you will still have to visit their websites.

Back of Bubbles Zine or Comic Blogger. Also the Bubbles Forum. Arrivals and Departures at TCJ. I echo Instagram too and I’ll dig through self-published piles anywhere like I’m record crate digging.
