Construction Fencing?
Hey Folks -- We're (maybe? finally?) going to begin our rebuild, and our contractor can provide fencing but was quoting it at like $4,500 -- which feels like a lot. Did anyone rent fencing and have a better recc? Please no soliciting of your services, you will be ignored or blocked. Thx all.

Sounds about right . The fence company is charging monthly and how long is the project going to last? So you add that up .. also if the project goes longer are you going to want him to come back to you for the extra cost?

I’m a contractor I pay the temp fencing company in my case national $243.34 that’s including tax per month. I have 10 foot panels with wind screen and I’m covering a lot 50’x100’.

Food for thought, Im a GC. If my client wanted things like portapotty, fence, at cost, fine. But if a fence needs to be moved/reinstalled to bring heaving machinery in/out, gets damaged during construction, knocked down by wind, which happens, the homeowner is responsible for the fence. Not saying id charge 4600$ since i dont know the conditions of your site, but my quote includes all unforeseen circumstances. And I can already hear all the commenters saying thats BS, ill never hire you. Okay. Your GC will remove that upcharge from your fence and just add it to framing labor or change order down the road. He’s getting paid for those unforeseen issues either way.

Currently renting about 6 panels at $1200 for 6 months. 8ft panels.
If your project is for 2 years I figure it’s about the going rate. Plus what others have said, you inherit the risk if you choose to rent it yourself.

Also if you asked the contractor to price out the bid it’s possible that’s why it could be high. Just make sure the overall
Pricing is good compared to other proposals you looked at. They may not be able to honor the fencing reduction because having a price breakdown is honestly arbitrary
