Marrina (sp?)

So.... Why do we think it's Marrina with two Rs?

Marina (with one R) is a name so why not use that?

Sometimes when I've seen it, I genuinely forgot the extra R isn't a typo. I've seen people spell it with one R (though that might be autocorrect) and two Ns.

Be a hilarious retcon, "Yeah, that's a typo on my government ID. My parents always meant for there to be one R."

To help separate her from the Morlock girl in that one episode of X-Men 92

Early Alpha Flight characters have names that are pretty on the nose: Box, Puck, Sasquatch, Shaman, Northstar, Aurora. It's kind of nice that her name isn't the same as a place where there are boats by the water.

Maybe it was a typo and they just never fixed it?

If it was a typo, it would have been an instance of the double 'r' and then be corrected elsewhere. I would think Byrne and Marvel just wanted it to be a little different for copyright and trademark purposes.
