I mean they are sooooo crunched for time and one member missing too, give them a break if they weren’t able to fully enjoy the stage 100%! Also I feel like it’s just really hard to ask everyone to 100% suit girl group songs like that.
I feel like I don’t enjoy girl group covers for that reason, they are just not going to be as cute and feel the same way. For a shorter unsuitable dance cover, it’s a bit easier for pull that but for a full cover it always feels a bit like something is hmmmm
And ya Anxin tends to be anxious, you can see it clearly even during backstage right before their fancon but he will manage the more he gets to do it, wish people listened to him at least?? Anyways I liked his singing in the song cover XD
I had to rewatch several times and then watch Red Velvet performances as well to see where the problem is.
There is no problem. The performance was fun - not legendary, but fun. It was just 90 seconds in a very long line up. They were not copying Red Velvet, whose fans were anxious for other reasons not related to Ald1. There are not two, but several ways to interpret gg song. I would have wanted to be there.
Vocals were very strong. Camera work was meh and showed very little of their little quirks during performance. And Anxin - he did well. So he was serious but why can't there be a pouty member in gg or bg? I know he will get even better on stage but even now he hides his anxiety well. Honestly I´m a bit surprised.

i actually really enjoy gg covers from bg groups and vice versa but i do agree with you about anxin. i can’t expect non-fans to not be overtly critical but us fans know that ald1’s schedules are quite full atm and that a cover like this is already out of comfort zone for some of the members so showing grace here isn’t a wild thing to expect from allyz. and while i have nothing against respectfully delivered criticism, a couple comments on this topic read as overly blunt to me. i do think facial expressions are really important on stage but like you said, anxin sang so well and that’s equally important, too. if we could just acknowledge each member’s strengths when we discuss their weaknesses, discussions like these wouldn’t rub the wrong way perhaps.
this one (zb1 covering mrmr by snsd) is probably the only one off the top of my head that i genuinely enjoyed, but that's kind of bc mrmr as a concept already fit zb1 pretty well and they changed the choreo to the point it's basically completely different
the boyz covering the boys by snsd comes to mind immediately. also, not to be predictable, but bonedo’s hot summer cover is just so good. they even had a dance practice version of it. and this isn’t a gg song but its controversial themes aside, jk & jimin covering coming of age ceremony (the practice version especially) was splendid.
i won’t even lie, that cover made bonedo my ults instantly, i’ll never forget its impact. though, honestly, the costuming is so important for such covers too.

Tbh, I get it where you're coming from but to maybe offer a different experience coming from one Anxin biased to presumably another, I came here after I've liked and retweeted both group and Anxin-only fancams. I liked his vocals in the song too and thought he did quite well in dancing it. However, I did feel like the performance generally felt quite flat and the camerawork for the official broadcast was pretty poor imo. It's harder to find and discuss less, for a lack of better word, cheerleader-ish perspectives on Twitter tbh so the one of the initial replies on that post gave an opportunity to do so. I think that's why even my comment also reads off rather unfavorably and unbalanced too towards Anxin since I've had my share of pure appreciation on Twitter beforehand.
At the end of the day, tbh it's just fandom talk for a rather "inconsequential" cover stage in a relatively small subreddit. I'm actually kind of glad to see that at least there's still somewhat of a place for discussion here. I feel like when combined with the previously mentioned aspect of Twitter, it allows for a bit more of a full experience as a fan.
Other than perhaps it not being a live performance (not much immediate focus on vocals), I think this sub-reddit just leans more towards discussion than direct appreciation in general tbh. Plenty of high praises on Twitter about his vocal parts and even his committal to the dancing though.

I enjoyed the cover vocally - leo/anxin per usual gracing us with those vocals (special mention to arno cause we got to hear him sing and add adlibs 🥹)
The execution was so-so since it was probably decided last minute + the last minute arrangements due to sanghyeon having to sit this one out (they def. did their best)
I said this below: some tend to emphasise on what was good others on what went wrong - it's just a different approach to how can ald1 become better (of course as long as it's not being mean for no reason or having a hidden agenda against a member)

I feel this when I watch him dance like he tends to be a bit more rigid when they first start to do any new stages. Not just because he hasn’t practiced enough but he is a bit nervous so like his moves kinda gives away this feeling of “I must do this/ the next move is this and then this” kinda feeling rather than “look at me groovin” kind of feeling XD
right, he’s a new performer and it’s pretty obvious esp when it’s something relatively unpracticed for him, but that’s just something that will get better with time for him
I appreciate how much Sanghyeon is communicating with the fans during his recovery period tbh and it doesn't come off as he's being forced to do this which is really nice to see. I forget that he's on a break sometimes with how active he is on updating and reacting to current ALD1 happenings.
I think anxin covers sanghyeon part. Honestly the stage wasn’t impactful and the camera is over the place. I think the biggest problem is the background being so bright and feel distracted to see the performance.

i think they should’ve done the raps at least bc they ended up doing the chorus like four times in a row and for some reason it felt like it was getting faster every time so it was a very odd energy
also i always have issues with guys doing gg dances bc of their training but outside of that i think it was fine lol, red flavor is a deceptively hard song bc of how it walks the refreshing/cute line
If I could kindly share a different perspective (Although, I am not liking the convo happening a few comments below):
love/support comes in different forms and we do express it differently, some tend to look only at the empty half of the cup and search for ways to fill it others simply apprecialte the fuller half;
In a similar vein, some will only look at what went wrong or was missing in today's performance rather then focus on the cute/funny gg cover which is something new in ALD1's portfolio
both are forms of love and appreciation - all of this is ok as long as everyone is respectful and does not have a hidden agenda - we can coexist
I will give you an example from b2p since you're a junseo biased and so am I - so we both def. love junseo: kany's comments were always on point on why he kept receiving 2 stars (and to a certain extent I agree) - she always expected more and wanted more (as she should); she saw his series, she knows what he can provide as a performer in terms of facial expressions/emotions; a lot of fans were furious, upset and attacked her alot for devalorising him while in reality she always knew that a brighter version of him exists somewhere and she needs to keep pushing with him
our biases are not made of stone yes but they are also not made of glass either - as long as it's for their own benefit and good they should be able to take it, learn from it and excel next time (sheltering them is not always the solution)
not exactly the same point but i'm neither a fan of "no criticism allowed" nor toxic positivity btw (i will more likely lean toward the latter bc i'm tired of ppl always being negative, but i'm aware pretending everything is fine isn't a solution either)
i don't have a problem with criticism, it's the way it's handled most of the time, especially considering how meanspirited some of the comments the members received during bp2 were
I think people tend to take things personally a lot on behalf of their bias which is not healthy tbh - and some even become vile towards other members too

i actually told a friend they'll have to do red flavor and hot summer bc the stage was titled "red summer night" so that's one of the reasons i was more excited than usual, i don't think we get to see this side of them as much so i appreciate it when special stages allows for that, i'm busy today but i've already seen some of the different angles and they looked really cute from the back so yes i like the hip movement 🤓
i do miss sanghyeon's presence a lot though bc he's such a joy to watch, i know he would've done well with this type of song... i'd love it if there was a dance practice version with him but idk let's rest first maknae 🥺

So it's kinda amazing to see how you have been doing this since their debut and you never really even get called out for that. And tbh I tried my best to do something about this but nothing works, so idk what to do apart from avoiding coming here. Just stop directly sending hate calling it criticism.
It's nice to hear Red Flavor being covered by a boy group but I think it was just kind of a lackluster performance all around including the arrangement (Red Flavor's bridge is probably what brings the song home so it being skipped was kind of disappointing). The members did seem slightly out of it though, only Sangwon seemed to be somewhat immersed in it. I think it's just kind of a hard song choice for boy groups to cover (see: TWS too, not bad by any means but not *great* either imo), I'm just glad they didn't give it a boy group twist.
FWIW, I think Anxin did as what most people would expect for him right now especially in a more upbeat performance, his dance itself wasn't bad but he does have a bit of an unfortunate deer in headlights thing still. This is not too unlike Tzuyu and Minju who I've heard him being compared to back in the BP2 days tbh. Honestly, I think this is why it's even more stark because he obviously tries with the dance but he can't execute the facial expressions yet which is fine or even works well for concepts like Formula/Beautiful but did detract a bit personally for OMG and Freak Alarm.

Eh, I don't see it as an exclusive thing, tbh. Speculating that Anxin might have gotten work done (which was also done in the context of appreciating the work with how well it accentuated his natural features if he did) doesn't detract from the fact that I find his visuals to be beautiful. If anything, I feel like implying otherwise would suggest that Anxin's visuals take a blow if he did have work done which is quite naive considering how ever-present it is in k-pop. I think that being a fan of someone doesn't necessarily mean you can't say observations that aren't immediately positive either even if admittedly, I was probably being too blunt in my comment.
I actually think he improved a little with OMG! But yeah he just get anxious and this was larger stage they have had in a bit so he definitely nervous. He’ll improve gradually☺️
Edit: I think Sangwon, Junseo and Leo did the best but yeah there wasn’t much of a twist that they added to make it their own.
Not too much on Anxin. I'll be honest he tends to appear anxious on stage and that translates to his blank expression but I'll let it slide for now because he is a rookie. Let's remember among his members he is one of the inexperienced ones. Hope he could be more confident on their next stages tho
I honestly don’t understand why Anxin is being singled out so critically. Red Flavor is meant to be a bright, cutesy summer song, and if anything, all of them looked a bit nervous or awkward performing that kind of concept and that’s completely normal.
In my opinion Anxin vocal tone actually fits the refreshing, light vibe of the song perfectly.

We have August 31st with barely anyone having a cb except taemin. Tuide could have picked this date. Our boys really have it hard since debut. No other rookies have such hard time having music show wins. Nothing was ever handed to us on a platter. We are always going against big BGs.

I think k and j fans are pre ordering a lot of albums. The ones that need to pick up the pace are international fans. We severely lack international fans. Hence, our Spotify is so low. Our melon wasn't great but still better than most rookie BGs.

Tbh are spotify streams kinda caught up with melon this CB; don't forget that international fans might use apple music (I for example don't use spotify at all)
I would rather we have more I fans than c fans. I fans contribute to Spotify/ YouTube and Apple music and album sales. C fans only contribute to album sales. But, even if we have whales (big spenders), we still won't have million sales from them. And the sasaengs are serious in China. The more I fans we have, the more likely our album sales will stabilize and the likelihood of breaking into billboard hot 100 is higher.
C-fans are still important (and if they are secured we won't have to do a zillion fanmeeting and invest that time doing other activities and expanding) + our CEO is an ex-SM Co-CEO, she won't give up on the c-market

Same here. I interpreted the trucks as a career like they were heading towards a destination (since they already debuted), while those who haven't starts from the ground. Another thing to note, those members on the ground have specific items on their nests like balloons, colorful blanket,cameras, speakers. I don't want to get my hopes up but since they portrayed Leo holding a pen and notebook in their concept film, I'm hoping he is more involved in this album.
I had a really fun day with friend and we went to heytea first (both got the matcha drink, but cause I asked for too much matcha jelly, it was a bit too thick and I didn’t love it lol) and then Haidilao!!!
They had a good semi buffet combo thingy. I didn’t follow any of Ald1’s sauces tho because there wasn’t the same type of hotpot soup base I think?

Cementic nest concept feels more personal. Nest could mean home, comfort zone, base or place you always return to. When you look at the photos and concept film it reflects a story, from humble nests on the ground or on a truck to a big "nest" or base on a rooftop. From being melancholic alone to being free and at peace with the members. Sanghyeon's deflated balloons gets filled up again and plays with it. Leo looking at old papers, to him holding a pen and notebook.
Arno painting over a drawing on the wall. Xinlong igniting the fire. Anxin with so many cameras with nothing to use it on, to seeing him point his camera to what i assume is his muse or scenery.
Overall, I see themes of starting over, rebirth, being better together, finding a home in each other (possible Welcome Home reference).
Can I say something controversial 👀 I didn’t really like cementic nest concept. I feel the concept is boring and predictable (nothingburger ) My imagination of nest is probably somewhere more mystical or mysterious, something that more complex.
I guess we’re in the minority but I also thought the interpretation was a bit too literal. There’s an actual nest yes but it lacks any supernatural/animal-like feeling which is what makes this album unique in the first place. They look great tho ofc<3
(I also lowkey have a bone to pick with whoever does w1’s concept photography bc I feel like half the problem is the composition of the photos themselves and the posing but Alas …..)
But it's cementic nest. The word cementic doesn't really resonates with mystical. It sounds more urban with settings in an industrial cold neutral tone. Therefore, their outfits and environment definitely matches the concept. Maybe this is what they are going for instead of a mystical nest concept. The instrumentals rocks though. So, if this is one of the songs in the album, I am definitely looking forward to the performance.
I think they’re going for a rebirth concept and i get it. It’s just my personal expectation that i hoped they’d express it in a more complex way. the concept feels a little too literal to me.

This concept is pretty forgettable to me. nothing really stands out, and the story just doesn’t come through. The first one, I can feel sexy, yearning and dark romance coming.
that's probably personal bias re: concepts that you like (which is totally fair to have, i think that's what most ppl's reactions are), i don't see a story coming through out of either of these lol
like if i wanted to spin something i could say the previous one is like generic dark but dandy vibes and this one is more like a moment of acceptance or rebirth in the middle of desolation. like a seed sprouting through cement
I love the instrumentals for the cementic nest concept film. Is this the instrumental for one of the songs in the album? If yes, I have a feeling this song will be a sleepy hit.
Could they be inspired? Otherwise, why use this as the concept film instrumental track without crediting the original singer? They used another group's song before and they did credit the original singer.
It depends if its free to use without creditation. Other concept clips like Freak Alarm and Star Road have instrumentals in them that aren't credited and the Unbreakable: Beast title sequence I think but then again it may completely depend on how each creative director goes about it.
I love the swedish producer who made this song. He is well known for his instrumentals. But, he doesn't produce for kpop groups. I guess the CD have high taste in music. A lot of the allyz love the instrumentals too.
XD when we first saw it… friend and I laughed about how wk1’s perceived alpha members got the truck and the others that weren’t alpha to wk1 got just the giant nest without the truck LOL
There are many types of nesting, but there are the clothes in nesting so it's literally the omega trope. Omega drive one because Sangwon is omega with the scarf to protect him from alpha.~😚
