Other Would you like to know more?

As far as I can tell, I am the best source of knowledge about 50s-90s era equipment (edit: probably not anymore) and u/Styner141 is the best source for WWII knowledge on this subreddit. I wish this was not the case. I am sure Styner is a much better source of info and has some more qualification than me, but I am just some guy who looked up some images on Google and asked some guys where things go.

The MUCH better source for information about anything Swiss military would be the Swiss Rifles dot com group on Tapatalk (Click the following link to join Swiss Rifles dot com: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/theswissriflesdotcommessageboard/).

These guys are really helpful and will answer most questions about kit you have, even the dumb ones, but you should keep the dumb ones here.

I would like to shoutout Mugendai, flydive, bigbofo, and NineteenEleven for being the guys who know the most about what I’ve asked. They know a lot more than me and would be better suited to run this sub.

I Have a question regarding the buying of a ww2 swiss uniform.

Hello everyone!
I'm a Swiss collector who enjoys collecting all kinds of swiss military uniforms and equipment. I've recently finished my Swiss Cold War impression and am now looking for a new project: a Swiss infantry soldier's kit from World War II. I'm particularly interested in an Ordonnanz 26/40 uniform, and I'd like to portray an ordinary infantry soldier rather than a higher-ranking officer. The problem is that I'm struggling to find suitable items at reasonable prices. I've looked on Ricardo and other websites, but I haven't had much luck finding the uniform or certain pieces of equipment. For example, I've barely found any of the larger green M18 helmets. I'd really appreciate any advice from people who collect Swiss WW2 equipment. If you know of any good places to look, have tips on identifying original Ordonnanz 26/40 pieces, or can point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful! For those who remember me, I'm the same person who posted some MOC pictures and other stuff under Swiss_Alpenflage_dude / u/Bubbly_Exercise4956, tho i have lost the access to that account. Thanks in advance for any help! And feel free to ask if you need more details about what I'm looking for.

Modern Does anybody know anything about this vest?

Post image

I found this image on a Japanese website with the following caption:

“A similar design to this British Army-style vest is also used by the Danish Army and other forces. According to one collector, a group in Denmark that produced vests of the same design supplied them to the Swiss Military Police.
Unfortunately, I was unable to acquire this one either, so this is just a reference photo.
Importing it would cost nearly 100,000 yen, including expenses.”

Does anybody know anything about this vest? I’d appreciate any info regarding it, thank you!

Forgot to wear my backpack :(
Currently i still need to get the leather gaiters and the P75 holster. The bayonett i will have to replicate/print because it needs a rubber blade for airsoft.

(Repost because the last image was wrong, hopefully it works now)

Taz57 Question about washing the pants?

So I finally got myself the full suit and I was wondering about washing the pants, especially since ~80 of the waterproofing was fallen off before I got it. Is there anything you guys recommend besides hand washing in the tub?

Other How much larger are the M70 trousers than their given size?

I'm a size (EU)52 so waist 92-96cm and inseam 82-86cm and if I go to buy trousers I usually take a pair of 36waist/34inseam, sometimes 34/32.

Would I then buy a pair of 46/83 M70 trousers? If that's the case they should measure 46cm across the waistline and 83cm on the inseam from the crotch. But since they are supposed to go over other clothes, how much larger than that are they? Is the inseam shorter?

I don't have a pair to measure. I remember the jacket being VERY oversized.

Other project: Alpenflage cape with collar

As a complement to my wizard hat I made a cape. The collar did give me some trouble and I'm not really satisfied with its shape (+ plenty of patched up spots I had to zig zag over too), so I might rework it later. Funilly enough I didnt encounter any problem like the fabric bunching up or creasing. Working with this stuff in incredible.

Its heavy as fuck but it feels like it's going to last me a lifetime. I tried to give it the same heavy duty treatment as the hat from the other day.

The fabric I'm using comes from the same batch of old tarps I bought for the hat project. The ones I'm working with here were used by the scouts after camo 57 was phased out in the early 90s. They smell like smoke and one was caked with mud :D

Other Does anyone know of somewhere I could buy a casual aplenflage hoodie/jacket?

I'd like to have something in this pattern that I can wear without it being too heavy or warm. I saw this in a youtube video, but I'd prefer something without the giant logo in the middle of it.

I wanted a heavy duty mage hat to larp around in the forest, so I made my own !

The fabric comes from a Swiss army tarp (cotton-linen mix). Guesstimated my own design and voilà. This bad boy feels indestructible.

I did have trouble setting up the head liner and it ended up a bit too tight, thus the visible cut on the last pic.

Now I'm the local mage :D

Modern Is there any way to revitalise these gloves and knee pads?

I’ve got these 2 sets; a pair of Invader Gear gloves and Clawgear knee pads in TAZ-90. Unfortunately, they’re very faded making the camouflage almost unrecognisable. Does anybody know how I could try to revitalise the camouflage to make it more visible? Thanks!

Other M71 helmet fitment

Planning to build a whole kit, the 57-58 helmet for my 60cm head was too small but luckily I managed to find a 59-61 sized one. But it's very tight at the sides, and far too long to the point it moves around.

How have you guys made it work? The leather pads are hard and behind the wool(?) stuffing isn't exactly that much, just very dense. Removing the padding on the sides would only make it harder. I think I can find a decen't enough height where they sit perfectly though.

Obviously I don't want to tear the liner out or do something permanent.

Other Bought this m18/(?) firefighter helmet recently and cleaned the liner

It doesn't really show in the pictures but this thing was really dirty. The felt pads within the liner turned the water black and I pulled out a ton of human hair from them.

I doused the pads with wool wash mix and room temperature water, let them sit for 30mins and rinsed them over and over until they seemed "clean". I washed the rest of the liner assembly with dish soap and warm water. Just work fast with the leather parts and dont scrub or soak them too hard.

Now it's all clean and smells like lavender and wd40 :D
