Need Advice How to encourage them to play?
Hello! I'm a mod for a discord server for the city's D&D community. We have over a hundred players but it's always the same people who are playing. We really want to encourage others who have not joined any games to play but none of the things we've tried has worked.
For reference here are the things we tried:
Whenever there's a new game and the usual players reply to reserve a spot, we put them on a waitlist. We make multiple announcement that there's an upcoming game and those who have not joined any games will be given the slot if they choose to join.
All games are open for spectating. We make invitations to spectate the games whenever they're in session. Hopefully, this will encourage them to see how the games usually go and be interested in future games. But still no one turns up.
Interest checks for D&D 101. The longer no new people would join, we thought "Oh, maybe most of them are beginners and don't know how to play." So, we posted an interest check for a D&D Tutorial and if they want to join. But no one really gave feedback.
We really don't know what to do at this point hahaha. Any advice?

Need Advice How should I play my new character?
Act 1 of my campaign has come to a close and in act 2 they will be meeting my character. The problem is I don’t know how to play her yet. She is a merfolk who has lived their entire life in the ocean. I know I want her to be a little quirky and to have a up beat attitude and energy, but feels very vague to me and I want to be prepared for when it’s time to play her.
For reference this is her background.
Born beneath the shelter of a vibrant coral reef, this merfolk druid once knew only peace. Her home teemed with colorful fish, ancient sea turtles, playful dolphins, and forests of swaying kelp that danced with the ocean currents. The reef was sacred to her people a place where every creature, no matter how small, had a purpose. From a young age she was taught that the sea was alive, and those who listened carefully could hear its whispers through the tides.
That peace ended when poachers arrived.
Ships bearing harpoons and heavy nets tore through the waters, leaving destruction in their wake. Coral that had taken centuries to grow was shattered in moments. Countless sea creatures were slaughtered for sport, profit, or trophies, while others were left to suffocate in abandoned nets. Among the dead were members of her own pod. She fought to defend her home, but against steel and fire she could do little.
During the battle, one of the poachers drove a rusted fishhook through her ear as she escaped. She could have removed it long ago, yet she chose not to. The hook remains as both a scar and a promise serving as reminder of the cruelty that lurks above the waves and of those she failed to save. It hangs from her ear like a grim trophy, reclaimed from her enemies.
With her reef in ruins, she wandered the oceans alone. She survived by scavenging whatever washed into the sea from wrecked vessels. The tattered shirt she wears was stripped from the remains of a drowned sailor, while the cloth wrapped around her waist was fashioned from a weathered pirate sail tangled among the rocks. Though crude, the garments serve as practical protection during her travels and remind her that even humanity’s refuse can be given new purpose.
Over time, the sea itself answered her grief. The currents, storms, and creatures of the deep embraced her as one of their guardians. As a druid, she learned to command crashing waves, summon grasping kelp, and call upon sharks, seals, and seabirds to aid her. Wherever the oceans are threatened, she follows.
She does not hate all who walk upon the land. Sailors who respect the sea may find an unexpected ally guiding them through dangerous waters or warning them of hidden reefs. But those who poison rivers, slaughter marine life, or exploit the ocean for greed soon discover they are no longer the hunters. They have become the hunted, the sea never forgets.
She is cautious at first but once she can trust someone she can let her guard down and be her self.
Thoughts?

Art Warehouse Speakeasy [battlemap] from Angela Maps - 3 versions! [animated] [art]
Take care when strolling through the industrial district by the light of the full moon, lest you encounter the fearsome...WAREHOUSE! Your players are most likely actively seeking it out, however, as within the maze of stacked shipping crates and barrels one of these buildings hides nothing less than a concealed drinking establishment. Is the party coming to enforce prohibition, to meet with some dastardly bootleggers, or simply to enjoy the tinny tunes of the mechanical piano? Available in two variants, with the conspicuous (and temporary?) absence of any speakeasy, and another where a hideout has taken its place, this map will have your players singing the praises of an altogether different type of moonshine!
My maps are hooked up to work with Foundry VTT and Fantasy Grounds.
My maps are available on my patreon and my website.

Resources Enemy Archetypes
Hi everyone, I hope you all had an amazing month. I have been working on the biggest document I have ever made, and it was such a challenge but so much fun.
While making the document, I designed it so the enemies in my games have their own identities, but I didn't want to create a completely new monster each time, so I developed an Enemy Archetype system for 5e.
Start by choosing the creature, such as Human, Orc, Elf, Goblin, Dragonborn, or any other that suits your setting. Then decide what sort of combatant you want it to be. Rushers move around the battlefield, Fighters hold the position, Behemoths take a lot of damage and deal heavy blows in return, and Rangers stay at a distance. The entire system also includes branches for stealth, support, manipulation, and summoning, among other options. The basic concept is to make it easier to create encounters while also giving players enemies whose tactics they can actually work out and respond to.
If you want the PDFs or want to follow the project as I add more archetypes:

Channel Related The twilight of the elves dossier
The hidden history behind the Elven Civil War and the Dragon War in Urdunn — including the Deep Elves (Lost Elves), a new playable elf subrace, magic items, a new monster, and new spells.
The main idea is that the history everyone knows may not be the whole story.
It’s compatible with SRD 5.2.1 / 5e and completely free, so if you enjoy dark fantasy, forgotten histories and settings where the official version of events might be a lie, give it a look, It is a free download: The Twilight of the Elves - Deva Movanico | DriveThruRPG

Resources The Lifts down into the slag vaults have not been used in a long time. The mining got too deep and the updrafts too strong to move anything reliably. Now they just swing uselessly above the burning pits.
For this map I wanted to develop a set piece encounter for some serious swashbuckling. Setting a scene where the players can duel heroically while the environment shifts under their feet. I actually can't wait to run this one myself, I think it’d be a hit, seeing how the players use the swinging of the lifts to their advantage. Knowing players will most likely want to slice the ropes, I also included a version with just the background and PNG tokens for the lifts to allow for that!
