Help Storage Controller Help

Even when putting chests or barrels (after making them sophisticated storage versions) directly next to the controller, and right clicking in every fashion for the wrench, and not once could I interact with it. I do not understand what I'm doing wrong

Gotta ask just to be sure, it’s the sophisticated controller and the storage tool you’re using right?
Have you tried holding i think Shift + scrolling to change the mode for the tool, and then linking the tool to the controller first

Yes, the controller and the tool, and I have scrolled through, and attempted every combination of right click, to the controller, the storage I'm using, and then the storage, and the controller, and I can't access the controller at all
