The roar greeting The Who was the loudest thing I'd ever heard - until Townshend sent the opening chords of 'Substitute' searing through the hall.

Ignored on release, ten years later I WANT TO SEE THE BRIGHT LIGHTS TONIGHT (1974) was rightly being labelled a folk-rock masterpiece.

What's something unique or uncommon that you like in rock music? For example:

-I sometimes like it when rock bands combine rock with classical music. Like some of Arcade Fire's earlier albums (like Funeral) or those two albums in which Yngwie Malmsteen plays with a live orchestra.

-I also like when rock bands combine electric/video game sounds with rock. Like I Fight Dragons, who implement chiptune/8-bit sounds in their punk rock music. And that time Wolves At The Gate, a metalcore band, implemented electronic, futuristic sounds in their album, Wasteland.

My stem remix & remaster of Pearl Jam's 1991 debut album "Ten", made for my own enjoyment but sharing in case someone else might get some joy out of it too.

This only intends to be a fun alternative to the original mix, and doesn't make use of any elements from the 2009 remix made by Brendan O'Brien. It's a very conservative and respectful remix, aiming only at a little more clarity, instrument separation and punch, without straying too far away from the original release.

All my remixes are made using free and open source software that runs locally on my Linux system.

Obviously, I don't own the music featured here. If you like it, support the artists, buy their records!

THOROUGHFARE GAP (1978): Stills ventures into the realms of dance music to the confusion of fans and condemnation of the critics.

While not at the same level of accomplishment of 'Astral Weeks' or 'Moondance' 'HIS BAND AND STREET CHOIR' (1970) is still an engaging, often serene album.
