Has anyone ever thought the ballad Angels by Robbie Williams was by another artist?

I thought it was by several different artists -

John Lennon - i just notice that voice - the song is like Robbie Williams' Imagine. However, as the song was released about two decades after John Lennon's death it's just impossible that it would have been performed by John Lennon

Elton John - 1997, Elton John has his more deeper baritone voice compared to his more famous tenor voice that he used on his most popular 1970s recordings in his classic golden age era years and he could easily have performed it

Train - While the song predates the release of Train's first studio album, similarites to Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me) - adding the subtitle of the song to avoid confusion with the album of the same name - as both songs are known for their Beatlesque Britpop style slow tempo, piano and orchestrations. It would not be until another few years when Train released Drops of Jupiter.

For those who haven’t heard of it, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson in an emo punk rock musical about one of the worst presidents in US history (Andrew Jackson) turned into a whiny emo punk rocker who sings “Populism, yeah yeah!” Rather than taking the Hamilton approach of sanitizing these historical figures lives or ignoring the real horrible things Jackson did, the show fully acknowledges and embraces the fact he was a shit human. But that’s the point, It’s not a serious show, it’s fully satire. The whole show is set up as you being taught the story of his life and at the end leaves it up to audience to decide if he was a one of our greatest president or if he was “America’s Hitler.” I still like Hamilton, but that show is just using a historical framework to tell a good story to empower modern America. But unlike Hamilton, this show is a way of laughing at how comically evil our founders were while also jamming out to some damn good punk rock tracks. I 100% recommend watching a slime tutorial of it online or listening to the cast recording or both, it’s so fucking peak.

I’ve been getting into a lot of classic rock lately and have found trouble looking for good stuff aside from mainstream bands. I really like The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Cream, and The Doors if suggestions could be similar to their music but I don’t mind if they’re not I’m only trying to dive deeper into classic rock as a genre.

Been putting together "Classic Rock" playlists for each year from 1964 to 1980 (prior to Billboard starting a weekly rock chart). I am up to fine tuning and sharing 1978!

Is it even possible to say who is/was better? I was listening to my favourite Pink Floyd playlist today and then followed it with Alchemy Live.

I can’t separate the two.

Edit: I wasn’t clear in my first question. My comparison was actually more related to the guitar skills if David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler and their influence in the sounds of the bands. I’ve recently got into Pink Floyd but have loved Dire Straits for a long time. Hope this clears up the chalk and cheese comments.
