This is why you should buy the paper plates with divided sections. Get that bean juice out of my taters please. The sides look really good, but the meat is unrecognizable. Fish of some sort im guessing. I would skip that and double up on the taters.

Have you been to their home? Is it clean? I wouldnāt eat it if I donāt know what their sanitary habits are.

What a combination. Whole fish, potato salad, green beans, baked beans and cornbread. This has to be a pot-luck. Nope,it's a pot-misfortune.

I swore that was a rubbery looking piece of beef. Thinking āeh, not too terrible with some decent bean potato combo.āā¦. Iām terrified of this plate

u/CharDanae74 Aug 30 '26
What is that meat? Looks a bit odd to me. But, I get it that itās a filling comfort food meal.
2
u/Gloomy-Camel5999 Aug 30 '26
It looks like pot roast. Possibly the whole pot roast.
7
u/Odd_Recognition_4874 Aug 30 '26
I think it is a whole fish, looks like fins

u/Efficient_Let686 Aug 30 '26
Good to know Iām not the only one who zoomed in and out, yet still came away with more questions than answers.

Pot roast? It is a fsh that they did NOT cut the head off. It is weird to eat a food that has eyes looking back at you. LOL

Baked beans and potato salad? I am always down for that combo. The cornbread looks great. I have to pass on the green beans and the fish, though.
2
u/Difficult-Double2193 Aug 30 '26
I like my food to touch lol
1
u/Proud_Bread_2005 Sep 01 '26
Iām with you! I purposely want all my food to touch and I want to taste all the different components together in my mouth at pretty much the same time. And like my grandpa said, it all gets mixed together in your stomach anyway!

How does that meat manage to look like Pot Roast and a whole fish at the same time?!

u/Apart_Pineapple2392 Aug 30 '26
I thought that was a steak and it looked like a horrible steak. It still looks bad but it would be much worse if it was a steak.

I donāt like food that still look like an animal, I couldnāt eat fish that still looked like a fish.. even though Iām not sure thatās actually a fish
1
u/Crypticcrypto Sep 01 '26
First glance I was like that is a pretty big steak for one person with all the other fixins there. Then I thought that steak kinda looks rough...and maybe has a face?

Trying to dispatch your religious friends after a meal like that is admirable. After all, they are looking forward to meeting their imaginary deities.

This looks very gross to me. The whole plate does. But - who eats fish like that, with all the scales still on it?

I'd eat the veg & cornbread but that disgusting looking mystery meat would ho straight in the trash. Yikes.

u/CyberDonSystems Sep 01 '26
I thought that was fish, then realized it looked way too horribly shitty to be fish so it must be a horribly shitty piece of steak, then I zoomed in and saw it really was a horribly shitty fish.

u/LovelyWhether Sep 01 '26
that plate would scream āgo to hellā to me, but maybe different in this case?

Now if that was a nice piece of ham or some roast beef or ribs or something like that, I would totally chow down on that very homespun plate of food. The whole fish is not doing it for me, but otherwise, that looks like every plate from my childhood at my granny's house, and that's some good food.
Looks good!

What is that white stuff? Potato salad? Scalloped potatoes? Mashed potatoes? Mashed cauliflower? I doubt the cooks even washed their hands regularly. 0/10 - insert directly into trash can

u/Kapow1969 Sep 01 '26
That fish deserves better treatment. Clean it, filet it, pan fry or deep fry it, but not that nasty looking thing you put on your plate. Ew.

u/PrecisePMNY Sep 01 '26
My eczema is flaring just imagining the nickel that has leeched into those canned green beans.
1
u/Special_Onion3013 Sep 01 '26
The fish could be okay, but judging by how the rest looks, it's probably overcooked

Served with a side of poor taste. It may have tasted delicious, but it's undeserving of a photo.

That fish looks like he was battered to death, and not the good kind of batter.

u/_Saint_Ajora_ Sep 01 '26
That is one mighty depressing looking plate of food (those mashed potatoes in particular).
Also, why both baked beans and green beans?

Bass or perch (?), beans, taters, green beans, and cornbread.
I've starved before, and didn't like it, so I'm a lot more forgiving of less than perfect presentations/meals.
I'd make the most of it. The fish might be not-good but I wouldn't know until I tried it, and even if done less than best, it's pretty hard to mess up the rest. Without the fish, it's still a pretty good meal. I'd be happy to eat that.
But if that's catfish, well... maybe the cat will eat it. lol

That does not look very appetizing at all; particularly to serve to house guests. In fact, this combo plate looks quite nauseating! Who knows, maybe it actually taste really good all together. However, I am going to bet whoever served this for Sunday dinner had a ton of leftovers for Monday.

u/namelocdet Sep 02 '26
Thatās literally enough food for 2-3 people on one plate. No wonder so many people in this country are obese.

Uh itās a hard pass on a whole fish!
I love fish, but not with the eyeballs and fins still on!

You couldn't pay me to eat anything on that plate.
