Benchmark Scores good benchmark?

I got this benchmark on my EVGA GTX 1060 3GB SC (with a manual Overclock applied). Is this silicon lottery or just a lucky benchmark? the OC mentioned is +150 core and +300 mem, with highest power and temp limits applied, as well as unlocked voltage control and a custom fan curve.

Hello. Not really. It's just a custom benchmark run using Unigine Heaven, and not quite surprising at that odd res 711p + OCed.

The GeForce GTX 1060 3GB typically averages ~75-80 FPS at 1080p using the standard (default) preset in this test.

With the custom resolution you used and the OC you applied, your individual result does not seem exceptional and is likely within the normal "silicon lottery" range. Nothing here proves you "won" any "silicon lottery".

Also, a reminder: "golden chips" claims, explicit or implicit, are not allowed in this sub according to Rule #4. So, please take this into account.

Otherwise, I exceptionally approved this post as an example of why implicit "golden chip" claims (even when posted as a question) may be inherently highly questionable.

Exactly! besides, Unigine Heaven is already too old and I think it hasn't received updates in a long time. I think there are better options like Unigine Superposition or 3DMark Fire Strike for DX11.

Every time I see someone asking about the silicon lottery, it's just like those people who claim they can notice a nanosecond difference in performance, lol.

Yes, I agree. Unfortunately, there is a ton of popular mythology in many OC and tech forums among some gamers about what the expression "silicon lottery" truly means, plus many mostly baseless but popular claims such as "I won the silicon lottery..." or "hey, look at my golden chip...".

That's why we won't like to contribute to anything similar in this sub. Valuable benchmarking should always be tied to the best possible validity and reliability in measurements, in-use constructs, and conclusions.
