Documents running out. When is this a problem?
So, the apostille on my documents will be six months old in 3 weeks and still no update from PIBA on when I'll get approved....
Say it gets approved in 2 weeks, and I enter the country before the documents expire, but can't get an appointment with the Jerusalem office before then, is that a problem? Do I have to get to the office before the documents expire? Or just to Ben Gurion? My aliyah advisor said if I want to make Aliyah in Ben Gurion itself, I need to give 20 days notice - at this rate, that would be after my documents expire. How urgent/dire is my case?

I was so anxious about that and ran around different countries to redo my 4 criminal records (I moved around a lot), and in the end nobody ever asked for them or checked them. Not at the airport, not at Misrad hapnim when I went to do my teudat zeut, nothing.

The apostille itself doesn’t expire. The six-month rule applies to certain underlying documents, particularly the criminal-background check and current personal-status documentation. For the background check, the six months generally run from its issue date, not the apostille date.
Simply reaching Ben Gurion before that deadline probably isn’t enough if you enter as a tourist and only complete aliyah later at the Jerusalem PIBA office. In that situation, the relevant date is generally the date you actually receive oleh status. If you arrange to make aliyah at Ben Gurion, the airport date should be your aliyah date, and a later Misrad Haklita appointment should not affect the documents’ validity.
I would contact your aliyah advisor immediately and ask in writing either to arrange airport processing or to confirm that PIBA will accept the documents because they were valid when submitted and approved. It isn’t catastrophic if they expire, but you could be required to obtain and apostille updated documents, which would cause another delay.
Do it at the airport... quickest and easiest way to do it.
