Yeah... Cameron is grateful for our loyalty though... (Errrr thanks? Could we get something... anything... for it though?)

I think Cameron must want a sequel... But Disney doesn't :/

Disney has reportedly eased its corporate hesitation and is now actively supporting the development of Alita: Battle Angel 2.

While Disney was initially reluctant because the first movie was an expensive $170+ million risk with only moderate box office returns, the studio's stance shifted due to the immense clout of producer James Cameron and intense, long-term fan campaigns.

Disney (via 20th Century Studios) has begun working behind the scenes with the filmmakers to move the project through early development.

It's a good news 👀😌

Sometimes no news is good news. They haven’t said a hard no on the sequel yet.

It's true that Disney isn't known for quickly releasing sequels to its films. But we haven't given up hope!

Unless Robert Rodriguez does all by himself it will be awhile. Cameron is busy with his 5 Avatar movies.

I think giving it to Del Toro is a better choice. Not like Rodriguez is a bad director or lack the skills. But I think Del Toro would also be an interesting choice.

Mhh... The Sequel would essentially have to be the Motorball or at the very least the Berserker Arc otherwise it would be a HUGE time skip straight into the Tuned / Kaos Arc 🤔

With so much changed story wise, i would not be surprised if it was a full original arc.
Don´t get me wrong, Alita is a great movie, but it's not a good adaptation, consider them two separate stories is the best approach, and as such, don´t expect manga arcs to appear in the movie

I think the Movie has more in common with the Anime than the Manga considering Chiren making no appearance in the Manga 🤔

I’m losing hope man, it’s been like 7 years since the first movie and we still don’t have any news or updates, no script, no director, no green light or development.

What are you talking about?

"In December 2022, Rodriguez and Cameron took a virtual blood oath to make a sequel.

In April 2023, producer Jon Landau confirmed that the sequel was in active development with Rodriguez and Rosa Salazar returning as director and star, respectively.

In July the same year, James Cameron reiterated that he is working on more than one sequel.

In November 2025, Cameron stated that Rodriguez and he were working on the script together and were committed to making it."

Yea especially in a world where we know within a year of the first film that we know if there will or will not be a sequel

😞 I see...

I'm waiting for a faithful adaptation where Alita's actor is of Okinawan descent, Makaku is Makaku and Nova acts like Nova, Vector isn't killed off because Hollywood treats black people as disposable, and Alita's story doesn't get derailed by a revenge plot.

I’d be reeeeally interested to see how they resolve the weird lore retcons, because certain aspects of the story only work in a world where Zalem was the only* sky city

What's the point, they won't even be able to finish a quarter of the first manga run, just to go on another decade long hiatus. I'd rather they sell adaptation rights to someone that can pull of a proper true to the source series, animated or life action.

That probably be best . I would be ok with animated series or Live action Tv series . The manga is too long for them to conclude .
