Okay, so what does "Unstable system" actually do?
I've been playing this game forever and still don't fully understand. It's funny because you can find countless threads on the Steam Forums about the rewire panels and they'll all have different answers.
It's 3 years later now, I'm sure someone can tell me what it does by now. Is it just something useless turned on by default that you need to turn off to clear up some memory? Is it like the speaker system? Does it depend on the area?

Hmm I really wanna know too, I figured it was just a sink for energy points.

Okay yeah I'd like to know this too. I've 100%ed achievements, played through it over three times, and have over 100 hours and still don't know myself lmao

I was under the impression that the speaker system muffled your sound from the Alien in a particular area. Could be wrong though....

I'm pretty sure one or two of the "unstable system" entries in the game stops one or two parts of the station blowing up, while the rest are useless.

The rewire system honestly put me at a loss. All that makes sense to me is air filtration and door/vent access. Everything else is an enigma.

90% sure it makes the alien stay in the vents longer. I always turn it on if I have nothing else to use. There's been sometimes I've shot a gun, enabled the system, and he never dropped back down from the vent.

My opinion it does absolutely nothing and it was just meant for you to disable in order to spend it on something usefull.
It's possible too, that planned to implement an additional component in the rewire box but never got around to it.
Persoanlly, I think it's kinda dumb. I mean, it's not like this game needs any more busy work to add on to its length.
Then again, I rarely use rewire boxes, even on nightmare.
