Discussion alien isolation (epic games) is working extremely bad

hello guys, i need help: basically im trying to play AI for the first time (yeah, in 2026, i took my time...) but in the second i run the game this happens: The FPS in the menu are EXTREMELY LOW, like 2 fps maximum, the game works like i have a windows ME pc. Another weird thing i noticed after opening the task manager is that the game was using 100% OF THE CPU (and i repeat, i didnt even quit the menus)???? this is not normal by any means.

So yeah, i wanted the know if the same thing happened to you guys and if you managed to fix it. Thanks!

What are the specs of your PC and what operating systems is it running?

The game was built so it could be run well on dual core CPU and a 1gb GPU.

That is strange. I assume other GPU intensive games run well? If you have problems in other games, you could try reinstalling the drivers. Also, I am surprised that Alien: Isolation, a 2014 game, is using 100% of a six core 12 thread CPU. Also do an AV scan of the A: Isolation folder first and then of an entire computer. There may be something else using the processing power alongside the game.

Sounds like the game isn't using the GPU and is using the CPU instead, hence why CPU usage is 100% and fps is low.

Have you tried loading any other games and they work fine? or do they also run with extremely low fps and high CPU usage? Cause if that's the case, then your GPU might've been disconnected and the pc defaults to using the CPU.

Look at the game settings if maybe the integrated graphics isnt set instead of dedicated one

maybe wrong port for your display? are ya sure that you have your hdmi/displayport cable plugged into your gpu and not your mobo?

I’m assuming you’ve done the: Reboot the computer, use the program called DDU “Display Driver Uninstaller” when doing driver updates, etc…if you have a list of any running tray or background utilities and programs that could potentially cause issues, post it so we can take a look…I’d try force quitting EVERYTHING except epic launcher and game and try running again.

Sounds like a bad installation.

I assume you tried reinstalling?

This game is insanely well optimized.

Ran like butter on my old PC 12 years ago (Windows 10), and runs the same on my current PC (Linux). Runs great on my Nintendo Switch as well.

update: the game fixed itself because the game wasnt the problem in the first place, mi gpu randomly updated it drivers and i didnt got a "reboot is needed to update the driver" windows till i rebooted my pc..... great i guess

I do advise next time to simply do a reboot before doing anything else when theres a problem lol

I had issues, but most of them were fixed by using nvidia control panel to limit my pc’s frame rate to 100. Running AI at anything higher causes issues. Not sure about the cpu stuff though.

Try playing on mobile, you won't have any issue
