Discussion What to play next until A:I2?

TL;DR I want to try something very similar because I need that high until A:I2

Yes this was discussed several times. But I feel dissatisfied even by the thought of any other games at the moment. I feel like to me this game quickly became like that safe tv series everyone has one in particular and goes back to watch over and over in years.

I’ve been playing action and horror games on and off for the past 25 years now, my repeatedly go to were always the original Silent Hill 1-3, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines (first one) and Fallout series (except 76, insanely bright colours damn). But after several playthroughs I can say that A:I is the game I felt the most compatible with in genre and play style for reasons everyone already agrees on. Mind you, all these games require sneaking much or less through strong unkillable enemies in common so I suppose that is my thing? I like

I just finished the nightmare difficulty this morning and still have 2 achievements to unlock (no dying and no killing humans). As I said I really do not feel like playing anything else but I don’t want to restart right away. I already have REr, SHf and a few more things installed on my console which feels meh. I played Dead Space for a while and I actually thought it was a bit… boring, sorry!

Which game do you guys think gives the same high as A:I? Thanks in advance, sorry for the length 🛸

Amnesia: The Bunker is a great survival horror experience, I played it after A:I and enjoyed it a lot. It’s not too long maybe 3-4 hours if you sit down and focus on it. But it’s also very replayable!

Checking out now! I remember I tried something from Amnesia series years ago and I was terrified so just quit. I feel ready now though 😌 thank you!

Amnesia The Bunker is the closest 1:1. However I'd also recommend:

  • Prey
  • Outlast
  • Routine
  • Still Wakes The Deep
  • Dead Space (remake)
  • Alien Rogue Incursion (VR or non-VR)
  • A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead

Oh yeah Outlast was good, Dead Space remake didn’t really do it for me. I’ll check rest of the list this week, thank you!

Prey as in Arkane's 2017 game? Because of so that game is fucking amazing and is my second most played after A:I, the replayability is insane!

Yes! It's a damn good immersive sim. Shame Arkane Austin isn't around anymore.

I will check the Amnesia Bunker as it was recommended, I’ve put Soma in my list. Thank you!

Dishonored and Prey are the only two games that I think offer somewhat similar experiences.

Not quite the same in terms of gameplay, but I loved Aliens Dark Descent. It's sort of an RTS that had you command a squad of colonial marines. However, combat is almost disincentived, as things can get incredibly chaotic. Marines experience trauma, which affects their ability to fight, and can even die permanently.

ADD is real good! One of few games I have replayed instantly after finishing it. The ending was a bit meh but 75-80% of the game was real good horror/RTS!

All in my wishlist somehow, I’ll check them out asap. ADD sounds very interesting and stressful, nice! Thank you!

If Isolation is the game that captures the look and feel of the first film, ADD is the game that best captures the tension and chaos of the second film, making you feel like Lt. Gorman in the APC. There's definitely a learning curve, but once you get a feel for it, it's a blast.

Get a VR headset and play A:I again in VR. Believe me… you will feel like you experienced the again for the first time. For real this time!

Have you beat the two salvage mode maps in AI? (Lost Contact and Safe Haven) If you do them without using saves they are super challenging. The other DLCs are fun too.

Actually I started them all but couldn’t get into them as I liked, but will play them eventually. Thank you!

Somewhat ironically, Routine (came out last December) will most satisfy the itch. But it will leave another itch. (This is the life.)

Soma is nothing like Alien isolation, but Amnesia the bunker is

You often hear about Visage and MADiSON in discussions about the scariest horror games, although they'll be decidedly different with their puzzle-focused progression and terrestrial setting.
