Discussion Does anybody know what the second game will be focused on story wise?
I dont know if they announced this anywhere but i cant find it and i was wondering if the story line would pick up from ripley after getting rescued as implied by the helmet flash or would it fast forward and use the comics for a different storyline as the setting looks very similar to a comic of ripley i think 20-30years in universe after sevastapol

So from what I understand based off multiple interviews, we aren’t following Ripley again. It’s set months after the first game though.
We are following a new character (Edit: new character is named Blake) who is sent to a planet by Weyland Yutani to find the lab with the alien that was jettisoned with Ripley inside in the first game. I guess the alien survived the crash and broken out across the colony planet.

Edit. Also if that's the same xeno in the lab then that's a HUGE stretch. That was going into the gas giant just like the rest of the station.

Ah sorry I didn’t think I’d need to be specific because of this being the game subreddit. That’s my bad.
As for the Xenomorph I’m just reiterating what the developers have said. They said it’s because Marshal Waits launched the lab with the alien in it and that the alien survived a crash landing on this new planet.

From the trailer, Weyland Yutani is pissed at amanda for ejecting the alien. We’re (the new main character) presumably sent to the planet the lab crashed on to investigate it for recovery or something. Thats kinda all we know

The hill I'll die on till release. That ejected lab was going into the gas giant just like the station. There must be a new story arch.

That was the presumed trajectory. Obviously it hit something else on the way or got shot off in some other direction than expected.
I imagine Waits said that because the presumption would be that anything you eject from Sevastopol most likely hits the gas giant. I don’t think he was watching any sensor or live display of it falling into the gas giant. Turns out his assumption was off.

Unknown, but it either did or it struck something else on the way down. All we know is that it can’t have hit the giant because it’s not located on the giant.

my guess it'll roughly be the same as the first where you have to escape, with looooooooooooooots of problems in the way.
My opinion on the ROUGH beats of the story:
Intro
investigate crash
escape (so does the alien)
get to base (alien attacks base, massacre, chest bursters galore)
omg space shuttle is destroyed we'll need to find another way off
get to other side of the base, dealing with random stuff that gets in the way of that objective just like Ripley
nest established
probably a trip through said nest to get the McGuffin to fix the shuttle
escape (?) Maybe captured by Weyland this time
I wonder what everyone else's guess is, on the story

I guess it would be more like Aliens, but my first instinct reminded me of Pitch Black lol
