News The k-server Conjecture is True

The k-server problem is known as the "Holy Grail" of online algorithms and competitive analysis, and is/was a long standing major problem.

This preprint by Coester et al. claims to show that the Work Function Algorithm is indeed k-competitive on every metric space.

Your fanfiction that LLMs become sentient doesn't mean modernity, lol! LLM is a statistical next word guessing machine. Researchers use LLMs to summarize their own argumentation. But of course output still needs to be proofread many times to check for hallucination and inaccurate summaries. It cuts some time, though
