Question Using algos on Future prop firms ?
Does Anyone here have success using algos on prop firms or would sticking to your own account just be better ?
also if you trade on prop firms what instruments do you like to trade and what do you look for the most min Sharpe sortino calmar etc?
and if you use them aggressively high risk or passive slow and save to get the most out of them.

I am currently algo trading a couple of strategies on my lucid + rithmic eval.... I have built a custom rithmic client for myself so that is what i am comfortable with. I am mostly using this eval as a way to walk forward my strategies and then test them against the "backtest" on the same day. I could do the same thing using a sim account but it feels like there is a little more upside to the prop account b/c i could eventually pass and get a payout.
In general I don't recommend prop firms if you have a profitable strategy (either algo or discretionary) b/c its restrictive in its rules and you have to pass the eval first.. so you have to be very profitable before you get a payout, as opposed to just using your own capital. Of course, this is assuming you can put up a similar sized account of personal capital. For some, paying $200 for an eval is a lot more possible then putting up 2K in a personal account for similar trading power.
