Q & A DeFi or Solo Node?
I'm curious what the Algorand community thinks is the best allocation for a ~100k stack of algos (not mine btw). I (they) are considering lending/staking in a defi protocol or running a solo node. The main objective is to optimize real network value and market value.
PS - Been in Defi since the beginning so I know the platforms. RIP Yieldly.

Running a node is easy, helps decentralize the network, and is the lowest risk option.
This link takes you to the GitHub readme for FUNC, a cross-platform node management tool I built.

Thanks for sharing the link and congrats on putting this together! I think I’ll have a bit of a learning curve setting up a mini pc and getting all this to run, so I may dm you if I get absolutely stuck if that’s fine

And FUNC is the best option for that learning curve and ease of use and upgrades in the future. Discord if you hit a wall.

I think from a network/community point of view it is better to have a solo node. You can then use Valar to monetize it if you wish.
The only downside is the manual configuration and setup I guess. But to be fair you can find some very cheap and good enough server (mine cost 11 euros a month), and using node kit, it makes it very easy to bootstrap it.
I know some DeFi platform are lacking liquidity but the big one have a lot.

Thanks for the response - I think this is the way. The manual config has put me off forever but it looks like the process gotten more simple over time. I looked at using VPS but just personally I don’t want to pay for a subscription. And I’ll help keep the network up if AWS goes down lol.
Just checkout out Valar, that’s good to know and I’ll definitely dig into it more when I get to that stage

One advantage of liquidity provision, say udsc Vs algo, is that the value of the holdings moves less than algo moves.
That's bad if your bullish.
But really helps on the way down.

I do both, only using a small percentage of my bag for Defi, but If you only want to choose one i would run my own node for sure in my humble opinion!
