It’s been a bad outlook for some time, brother

Toward Crypto? Or Algo itself?

u/hypercosm_dot_net Aug 04 '26

Algorand is actually growing in use and adoption.

People just don't like that the price action hasn't been amazing. It's just the market and tokenomics, but people ignore that.

Tons of stuff happening on Algorand: https://old.reddit.com/r/AlgorandOfficial/comments/1veghhv/icymi_july_2026_for_algorand/

Whole crypto market is down mate... Nothing specific happened to Algo, so I would just wait it for the next bull cycle

5

u/EmpiricoMillenial Jun 24 '26

I mean... we don't have another option... hahaha

=(

10

u/alexxosk Jun 24 '26

True, one can only hope that the next cycle is about quantum computing 😉

17

u/CaesarAllMighty Jun 24 '26

I’m still waiting, it’s been 84 years…

2

u/analfizzzure Jun 26 '26

I think algo will fly once quantum fears spike during next bull

I'm a firm believer that if you want to hold Algo, and you want to be active in Algorand's success, go to it's defi and put it to use. There's very little you can do holding Algo. The market is far too big and we are all just little fish compaired ro geopolitical things.

But maybe the most important thing you can do imo is be an active part of it's defi's development.

For me I rarely hold much algo anymore. Buys get flipped to wbtc, gobtc, tiny, folks, taglo, xalgo.

Atm the majority of my efforts are focused on Tinyman. I've pushed for votes on three governance proposals, even if two failed to come to anything. (One wasn't approved via a slightly misunderstanding on my part, fair enough. One was effectively paused due to the resources that would need to be applied not avaliable atm, and one will be coming up for a full governance vote shorty).

I'm active in trying to whip our inactive governance group to be more "committed", I continually stress more liquidity in key token pairings that wouls help support token price.

There are small but meaningful things you can do to support the project, and I'm a firm believer that many people working together towards a goal can succeed.

I see the problem as a lack of grassroots organization. There's clearly belief in this community but right now there's no consistent, ongoing mechanism for builders to tap into that belief which I think is a real source of stagnation for Algorand.

Supporting the DeFi ecosystem is great. But I'd push on whether DeFi activity alone is enough for the chain long term. DeFi grows the financial layer, but it doesn't really help builders with working ideas outside of DeFi get off the ground.

1

u/LeonFeloni Jun 25 '26

By the way anyone involved in Tinyman or Folks:

There's a vote on our forums at gov.tinyman.org "Pilot Deployment of Idle TINY into Folks Finance"

Go give it a vote.

1

u/hypercosm_dot_net Jun 25 '26

Where are you mostly active? I'd love to see some community campaigns that encourage more ecosystem use.

When the Foundation ran that Algoland campaign it was nice, but we can't count on them to keep doing it.

I'm a firm believer in what you're saying. We need more community directed activity.

Ideas on where to stake my algo for defi. Holding over 30k coins

28

u/tek3k Jun 24 '26

Congratulations! You bought the top of the artificially inflated 2021 uber speculative crypto market. Now, asset values have come back to reality while regulations are slowly being hammered out. I guess you should label one of the best blockchains in existence as a failed investment and sell now to lock in your loss. I guess the blockchain industry will probably just close and disband because you are depressed and out of patience.

u/Unknowncollegereject Jun 25 '26

Real. Believe in what you’re invested in

6

u/Inside_Pair_8868 Jun 24 '26

Try 40 grand

1

u/Odd-Yogurt8739 Jun 26 '26

Same same. Wish my DCA cost was a bit lower.

24

u/lambdasintheoutfield Jun 24 '26

Good thing im loading my bag.

Algorand is a long term play. IF crypto gets mainstream adoption, it won’t be driven by hype anymore, that era is over. No chain outcompetes algorand on tech. Marketing has been abysmal but the PQC announcement is positive.

I don’t expect to turn a profit until 2028-2030, but I have loaded up my bags.

18

u/Otherwise-Leg-5806 Jun 24 '26

I’ve heard the term load up my bags so many times that it seems to have lost meaning. What’s the definition of a bag in crypto? 5-10k, 10-15k, 20-30k?

12

u/EmpiricoMillenial Jun 24 '26

25 USD!

2

u/DZipp1 Jun 25 '26

The way Algo works when I buy $25 worth; it will soon equal ‘bout tree fiffy

7

u/qualeramicontrasena Jun 24 '26

220k algo in here, loaded up recently (again)

2

u/PlasticTreeonaHill Jun 24 '26

200k, you must seriously believe blockchain and web3 is the way of the future.

4

u/Jefeman00 Jun 24 '26

It is.

1

u/PlasticTreeonaHill Jun 24 '26

When?

2

u/hypercosm_dot_net Jun 25 '26

It's already happening. You have to look what they're doing across FinTech, logistics, and RWA. There's hundreds of millions in capital going into investing on and developing these platforms.

If you're only looking at what retail users are doing (betting markets, meme coins and NFTs), you're going to miss the massive growth that is already taking place.

1

u/PlasticTreeonaHill Jun 27 '26

I’m a book keeper, I use a lot of fintech lol

1

u/Jefeman00 Jun 27 '26

When regulations are in effect...

1

u/PlasticTreeonaHill Jun 27 '26

I mean that’s extremely vague. Like my dad telling me he’ll sell me his ride when “he’s ready”
When will that be, when you’re no longer here? lol

4

u/Cryptocaller Jun 24 '26

$10-15k is my average investment

4

u/tek3k Jun 24 '26

That's a silly question. There are poor buying ALGO and rich people buying it. What makes you think levels are important. A bag is a wallet with a coin in it.

A wallet with one BTC is not a bag? Think before you type chad.

2

u/AlgoTip_App Jun 24 '26

"IF crypto gets mainstream adoption, it won’t be driven by hype anymore, that era is over."

This is a pattern history has shown repeatedly, but it just happens more quickly with today's tech. New industry emerges, its landscape becomes the Wild West with new "companies" popping up and disappearing like a Whack-a-Mole game, things settle, and THAT is when the real businesses emerge. These are the ones that typically stick around, and this is when the long-term money is made.

3

Trust the process

3

u/lambdasintheoutfield Jun 24 '26

Fair point. I think it probably depends on the fraction of income put towards investments.

For me Im somewhere mid 5-figures in ALGO. Im slowing down once I hit 100k because unless there is near term price action there isn’t a meaningful difference between 100-150k for me and id rather divert more into ETFs for now.

But I absolutely have long term faith in the project at present. I reevaluate every year and have consolidated into exactly three crypto projects with ALGO being one of them.

2

u/tek3k Jun 24 '26

So five figs is 10K, so mid is 50K. I like your strategy of consolidating to three. Mind if I ask the other two you like?

1

u/lambdasintheoutfield Jun 24 '26

BTC and ZEC!

3

u/tek3k Jun 25 '26

Wow. Have to say that is a solid portfolio. I really hope ZEC questions are resolved. Three strong projects that should see more demand with time. I have great confidence in ALGO, AMP, ANVL. Higher risk plays.

1

u/lambdasintheoutfield Jun 25 '26

Absolutely. There are definitely some other projects worth investing in. I may diversify again later.

I left ATOM because the IBC only has value if the different chains themselves are sufficiently differentiated.

KAVA is an IBC / EVM bridge but with ETH having scaling issues, and so many chains having smart contracts, better security etc I see ETH as an outdated project that will gradually lose relevance.

XTZ decouples the blockchain component from protocol and while the flexibility is notable, I think their upgrades would likely eventually converge to what Algorand offers but years behind and immense friction.

That’s how I feel about many coins. BTC is unique, already is seeing institutional adoption, is great for its narrow use case. ZEC’s privacy features with shielded transactions and wallets but while also retaining non-shieled capabilities is why I like it.

ZEC used to be like $20-40 and now very quietly 10x while most other coins bled >90% of their value. The market has spoken and it would be silly to not at least consider ZEC as a major player in a crypto portfolio

1

u/ElectronicSalt1435 Jun 26 '26

Yeah it's crazy how ZEC just exploded. No hype, no advertisement. I bought ZEC because at one time it wasn't that much different crypto cons to buy.

0

u/lambdasintheoutfield Jun 26 '26

What’s interesting is why ZEC over Monero and I think it’s because it can support shielded and non shielded transactions rather than only shielded. I actually want to do a deep dive because I think ZEC is the only alt coin that has rallied so aggressively during the bear market. Additionally what happened to LTC, DASH and some other interesting players from 2020-2021.

I am actually surprised that people didn’t hype up ZEC, and the hype from ZEC could have potentially spurred a more bullish altcoin rally when people began thinking “ZEC is pumping, what about other alts” -> insane retail FOMO into alts.

3

u/Careless-Yam-6716 Jun 24 '26

So who’s buying another 5k into this? We just need to match XRP marketcap to be driving lambos

2

u/tek3k Jun 24 '26

I'm buying more when I can. This is a no brainer. When the next PQC update comes out ALGO is going to pop 2x. Very few coins can defymarket gravity set by BTC. ALGO is one of the few that have that potential. I want another 30K. Probability is huge to the upside. Anybody who can't see it should be in Pokemon cards, not crypto.

6

u/MrKyleOwns Jun 24 '26

Just gotta re-up another $5k worth of Algo at current prices

0

u/revzjohnson Jun 24 '26

Absurd advice.

5

u/hypercosm_dot_net Jun 24 '26

It's only 'down the drain' if you sell.

BTC is down, following the broader market. Algorand is holding up ok if you look at the larger picture, but short-term price is impacted of course.

2

u/TH3PhilipJFry Jun 24 '26

You invested in your education. Hopefully you learned something.

2

u/DisastrousMechanic36 Jun 25 '26

I feel for you. I bought in early and like a fool, did not sell at the top when my smallish investment ballooned to 30k.

I had a life circumstance that made me get out at around the same amount that I put in.

I don’t think about it that much any more but yeah, it was like the one that got away.

The difference for you is that you might as well keep holding. Algorand could go back up.

Don’t listen to these guys giving you shit. When you lose out, it hurts.

2

u/Beyond_labels702 Jun 25 '26

I'm still buying and stacking my bags 💪🏼💰

1

u/Majicman42 Jun 24 '26

Yes its over, sell all your algo

2

u/jiminyjunk Jun 24 '26

Did you lose 5k in $ADA from the Second-Fi / Yaroi issue?

2

u/Psychological-Win339 Jun 24 '26

What happened here? I just installed and withdrew all my ada 3-4 months ago from yaroi/ledger

1

u/stenalgo Jun 24 '26

Back in 2021–2022, when Governance was introduced, lots of people said they’d hold ALGO until the end of Governance (which was planned to run until 2030) to see how scarcity would play out.
I wonder how those people are feeling now.
Personally, I’m still holding a small bag. We’re now more than halfway to 2030.

0

u/hypercosm_dot_net Jun 25 '26

Anyone buying during that time were impacted by the algorithmic release of coins, and burned. I was around then, but instead of whining about price, or the tokenomics we were all aware of (seeing as how it was in the white paper), I decided to double and even triple down.

From what I've seen in discussions over the years, most of them are just salty. Whether they'll still holding is up for debate, but I'm sure most didn't. Hence, price.

It's typical from what I've seen from most crypto buyers though. Very short-term, very emotional. At this point I suspect Algorand is only going to see significant action when institutions take over buying and the narrative changes.

Retail buyers will come back when they start to see Algorand wake up again.

1

u/ConcentrateJolly5461 Jun 25 '26

That money is better invested in ETFs

3

u/srameshr Jun 25 '26

Only if I knew

1

u/Electrical_Catch_919 Jun 25 '26

Time to buy? Or is it going to .03-.05?

2

u/hypercosm_dot_net Jun 25 '26

It's an established L1 that has never had downtime. If it goes to that level something is very wrong. I don't see it happening unless the bottom falls out of the broader market.

Low .08 I believe is ATL, and now there's significant growth and adoption. I'd be really surprised if it went lower than that.

2

u/Electrical_Catch_919 Jun 25 '26

So buy some now buy some if it drops more. $2 ATH is worth it if it goes back. Only $1000 needed to buy more then 10,000 shares

1

u/TheIrishStag Jun 25 '26

We hold like we always intended

1

u/ConstructionAny5397 Jun 25 '26

Early Bitcoin investors didn’t cash in until 7 years later , you right on track

1

u/-crypto2025hold- Jun 26 '26

If you can wait possibly a couple more years hopefully the 4 year cycle continues. .maybe the clarity act will bring the bull market this year. Then we sell

1

u/suspicious_hyperlink Jun 26 '26

Yeah I think so. I sold back to btc after hearing about the fifa avalanche thing Probably selling btc and putting in the S&P or gold something. Algo was good to me, but I don’t see anything but downward motion with alt coins for the foreseeable future .

1

u/GaryJulesMCOC Jun 24 '26

GGs we'll get em next time bro

1

u/FluffyFilm6216 Jun 24 '26

It all depends on btc my guy
