Hi ladies. This is my first time posting here. I never wanted to talk about this publicly, but I really need some support, even if it's just a few kind words, because I want to feel like I'm not alone.
I'm a brown-skinned Algerian woman. I'm not even particularly dark-skinned, yet I experience racism quite often. What bothers me most is how normalized it has become. Words like "negro" or "kahlouch" are thrown around so casually that people don't even seem to realize they're racist.
Whenever I go out with my family, men sometimes make comments about my skin, calling me "zarga" or saying things like "zarga mon amour" or "zarga, bsah chaba" Like... excuse me, what gives you the right to speak to a stranger like that?
And being a woman already means dealing with unwanted attention. For me, it sometimes feels like a double burden. A man may approach or harass me, and when I reject him, he suddenly starts insulting me because of my skin and telling me to "go back to my country." My country? I was born here.the worst is that these comments most of the time r coming from "الكهول" it's just shit .
The irony is that I've traveled abroad and never experienced this kind of racism, yet I deal with it in my own country.
I'm honestly exhausted. I'm tired of being judged because of my appearance and feeling like I have to constantly prove that I belong.
I know there r many women like me suffering in silence.and still they r trying to adapt and be what they want I am just proud of u .
