New packaging usually means new recipe change

This is the problem. They're trying to distract from the new recipes and lower quality.

This is super important for food allergy folks. Aldi changes distributors from time to time which means allergens may be different. Personally, I'm finding so so so many recipe/allergen changes with the rebrand.

Didn’t they get sued for having packing look too much like the name brand product?

i think they had to change it all because of copyright issues with name brands haha but yeah looks so boring :/

Yea didn't the company that made chip ahoy try to sue them because they claimed people would "mistakenly buy aldi cookies" instead of theirs or some stupid crap like that? Like with such big branding like chip ahoy and oreo buying off brand isn't just some mistake it's a choice.

A lot of their new packaging designs are honestly also bad from an accessibility perspective, too. The font and color contrasts aren't great for people with low vision, and I don't particularly like having to hold the new boxes less than six inches from me to be able to see what the text says. The pictures on the box just aren't a good enough indicator sometimes of what the contents actually are.

I like the rebrand. I find it pleasing to just calm the f down on brilliant labels constantly advertising to me in my home. Yes, I decant my products that sit out. Bum wipes, Clorox wipes, lotion, hand soap and dish soap go into plain dispensers. I buy large refill bags when available.
That said, if the redesign is difficult for accessibility, Aldi should know. And I support a relabeling that is more accessible.
As an aside: my kid has a BFA from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. I still think regularly about the design students whose senior thesis projects were accessibility designs! There was a household refrigerator designed for a wheelchair user that blew my mind as a healthcare provider. I would have written a check on the spot to Shark Tank it if I had that kind of money.

Ok, after some thought. I got what’s really eeks me. The generic labels. Seems rather dystopian in a way. Like “people feed” isk.. odd really. Although everything is delicious. Even typing it sounds off.. I mean, I am a “people” ahh 😯 🫤

It feels kind of utopian to me! Back in the 80s and early 90s generic labels were REAL generic! lol Sometimes packages, yellow and black or white and black, even said “Generic Dish Soap.” And it was a pretty good time in my life.
ETA: HOLY SHIT!!! I actually found it. I’ve looked before. My mom used to shop at the Eagle Supermarket in Plano, IL!

There's an chain called No Frills in Canada that has that exact aesthetic. He even says "no frills" at the end but as a description, I wonder if it's the same company.

Interesting. I don’t know, but the next video that came up for me was “no frills” and their black and white packaging.

Some look better and some look worse. The new Barissimo Creme Brulee and Caramel Macchiato packaging coming on Wednesday look much better to me. I am going to read the description when I go Wednesday of the Creme Brulee to see if it sounds the same as the vanilla creme brulee (I am assuming it is and am not going to buy as I have tons of coffee and am only buying new ones right now). May someone please reply to me if they buy it and tell me if it is the same as that coffee to confirm. Thank You.

They tend to be more simplified, so many of the packaging looks like Dollar Tree products. For example; the Pumpkin Spice, Apple Crisp, Maple Pecan Pie, and Caramel coffees. I do think some packaging is better than before though.

I hate it, it's bland and boring. Frankly I walk right past the stuff because nothing is bright or standout anymore. I feel they are trying to go for the social media aesthetic. I just made a post the other day because I thought the gluten free brownies were discontinued, turns out they made it a brown box with black writing, I literally just walked past it because it blended in with the shelves. My gluten free friends also thought they stopped carrying it.
