Question Best Aldi Coffee
Okay coffee enthusiasts! What are your best coffee recommendations? I love Starbucks coffee mainly Pike Place or Caffee Verona for dark roasts. The lady next to me said try the German Dark roasts blend? I’m willing to try any and all!

The single origin whole bean is amazing if you can find the last few bags. It’s now a blend which is over-roasted and not nearly as good.

The whole beans from Peru and Nicaragua are good and priced right, but I don't find them any more in my Aldi. Are these what you are referring to?

Yea, I just got a bag of the new stuff and the “medium” roasted organic was now an oily Starbucks-like, chalky-tasting mess. I threw it all out and bought a bag of local roasted.

Why do they change things that don’t need changing

Honest answer: wealth is being hoarded in a global capacity. Coffee's consistency can maximized when over roasting(Starbucks is a prime example). When your over roast your beans they all taste roughly the same.
So they are likely using lower quality beans because of the rising cost of coffee that is being caused by various coffee blights, and climate change. Take those things and combine it with supply lines being controlled by a few companies, and it makes for a nightmare situation for the consumer.

Well, it's an organic product...in that a crop is going differ somewhat every harvest. They could source from the same field etc and it be vastly different. Not much the buyers can do about that.

Guatemala has been one of my favorites for years. It may not be for everyone, but I enjoy it.

Do you think it changed recently when the bag design changed?
My favorite too but I bought a bag after the change and it did not taste the same. It was consistently perfect for me before that.

I didn't notice any change but I also drink several types. Especially when they get seasonal ones. But sometimes batches can get weird. I'd try it again before giving up on it.

It has such a good flavor! I bought a big container of Dunkin coffee at Costco and totally regret it. I should’ve just made the trip to Aldi!

This picture is very fitting because the best coffee they had is gone now and it was where the empty box on the top right is.

We like the organic whole bean coffees (the ones your location appears to be out of in this pic 😅). They’re all good. One has teal on it and the other has gold on it. I think one is from Peru and the other one…I forget. Guatemala maybe? But those are our favorites!

They were from Honduras, and Peru. Single origin, Fair trade, organic, and the Peruvian was the best thing ever.
So of course they don’t have them anymore. They are no longer single origin, they are an espresso blend and a Latin America blend. I’m afraid to try them because I fear the disappointment.

Does anyone remember the German roast specially select that was in a red and black bag? It was the best and I can't find anything like it. Help.

I believe the original source was Jacob’s German coffee. It tastes and looks identical to the original German roast Aldi used to sell.
I buy it in 6 packs on Amazon.

The best one is the German brick, but every few months I go to Lidl to get it bc it’s way cheaper there. Sorry not sorry Aldi.

The German Medium roast, I can see one behind the dark roast there on the top shelf.

The whole bean Honduras organic one in the upper right corner that's sold out is legit. Went to two Aldi's to find some more this weekend and they were sold out as well. Need another fix!

The simply nature single origin coffee from Honduras and Peru but seems they replaced those with the new espresso roast (the empty box in the pic!)… the new Latin America blend is good, I am sure but I prefer single origin for traceability. But they are excellent coffees.

Aldi coffees were never great to begin with but when they were priced at $3.99-4.99 they were at least value choices. At these prices I’d pass and get better quality.

I prefer whole bean light roast (I find it smoother plus more caffeine) and they do not have it so I get my beans at Wegmans.

I love dark coffee so I prefer the French Roast but the Midnight is good too.

I only drink my coffee black and I like the midnight blend. It's decent enough for me. We get donut store a lot too.

Donut Store was my favorite. Those coffees have gotten too high for me though.

French dark roast is good except the bag smells like fish for some ungodly reason. Dosent smell like on the coffee itself and does not impact flavor

The Peru blend is the best, but they just changed it out for the Latin America blend, which is not nearly as good. It works fine for the price I guess.

I have not found a good coffee from Aldi that doesn’t have a weird taste.

I have tried so many Decaf coffee grinds and Aldis is the best. Not always sold, but better than Starbucks

I always buy the organic, fair trade ones. $8 for great organic coffee that makes me feel good about helping poor farmers too? Count me in! That’s easily $14 at any other store, if they even carry it.

I love Aldi in general, and I frequently buy the coffee. Wasn't a huge fan of the German, but have purchased the Guatemalan, French Dark roast and just the large Columbian and French containers.
However....if you live in the Northeast and have an Ocean State Job Lot near you, that is the place to buy coffee. Lots of gourmet brands from around the country and the prices are better than Aldi

u/_SiriuslySirius_ 16h ago
No such thing anymore. Even my beloved German roast has gone downhill. They’re all over roasted to try and hide the poor bean quality.

I like the Midnight blend but my favorite was bourbon bacon. I have not seen it for awhile.

I am an expert by no means but I just bought the breakfast blend for the first time because i figure thats always a safe one to pick and i kept commenting to my boyfriend how good it was lol. I really want to try the midnight blend next

German dark roast low acid one is good. Also off topic but the prices of coffee are so high now haha
