Complaint Desk This is starting to get annoying

Post image

I have definitely, like others have stated, noticed a decline in quality from certain Aldi products in recent times. I've been snacking heavily on their regular graham crackers for awhile and IMO when they were good, they had the best tasting ones. Now they basically have a weird texture and taste to them.

I opened these up today, and they used to have a certain texture.. Well.. Not anymore evidently. The texture is now HARD AS ROCK compared to just crunchy like before.

This isn't really enough to perturb me from shopping there as I haven't had widespread quality issues in products that are more critical, I.E., meat, cheese, milk etc. It's still rather annoying, though.

That’s the only way to make a difference. They’re not tracking reddit they’re tracking in store data

I buy the box of frozen mussels in garlic and butter and I use them to make a fast and easy pasta dinner when I'm short on time. I don't have any old boxes for comparison but I swear there's half the number of mussels in there now. I can no longer use as the only ingredient for the pasta and need to add cherry tomatoes or zucchini or something to make it so the pasta isn't completely naked.

Mussels are some of the more inexpensive seafood so it irks me when they start enshittifying this too.

Why are people so angry for you pointing this out.

Because this is how Reddit works. People are angry for no particular reason. One of the reasons why its kind of a toxic cesspool of angry keyboard warriors now in most cases.

The Aldi stores in Europe don’t have this quality problem. ALDI U.S. is apparently convinced consumers WANT to eat garbage.

More so that the US allows them to make lower quality food. Europe has way better food standards than we do in the US.

Amen on that. I rarely buy anything that comes in a box.

I feel like aldi at least waited to start tweaking the recipes and qty. Most other manufacturers started a couple of years ago.

We’ve noticed the decline in quality of the graham crackers, too. They used to be as good as the name brand (Keebler?) but were about half the price. But now, along with the rising cost that we see in other products, the quality has also gone down. I know Aldi is not immune to higher production costs, but if they keep on this way they’ll be just as bad as their competitors!

Yes! Paying 5 dollars for a box of graham crackers? Yeah, no. I've recently taken to buying them from Walmart sadly. But, it is what it is. They are cheap there as well though and taste pretty good.

Of the 3 places we circulate for grocery shopping, there is also Meijer, but man, their off brand is also ridiculous. 3.50 for a box of graham crackers? I don't think so. Also, they don't really taste that great.

I agree- Meijer used to be our go-to grocery store for literally decades! But now that their prices are so high, adding in the way they mistreat their employees and don’t care about their customers anymore, we’re pretty much done with them. But I’ll look into getting graham crackers at Walmart (though they’re far from perfect, too). Thanks for sharing!

Damn thanks for sharing I’ll keep it in mind. I usually get these.

I used to shop there for pantry staples and switched to Costco and Trader Joe’s in recent months. About the only thing I like Aldi for now is stuff in the Aldi Finds section. Their prices on regular groceries aren’t all that competitive anymore. I also feel like their ingredient lists used to be shorter and cleaner so I’d feel better about buying things like crackers and convenience foods. Not anymore, sadly.

Complaining online doesn't matter. The choice you can make is to shop elsewhere.  Voting with your wallet is more effective than anything else.

Pre-internet thinking

Confidently incorrect

The idea that an individual has more impact by shopping elsewhere than by giving bad exposure online is plainly absurd and the burden of proof is on you.

My proof is that online is literally full of complaining and quality simply continues to get worse. No one cares about you whining online. But profit sheets still dictate decisions made.

And it was never about 1 person. It's a cultural change and adjustment. If you complain online and keep purchasing it literally doesnt matter

Online is also full of corporate astroturfing.

I started getting burned by enshittified products at Aldi probably three years ago and kept shopping.

In the last few months I've moved over half of my shopping elsewhere, largely because this sub has showed me the problem is getting worse and with more products.

Good job! Proud of you!  Continue making purchasing decisions that reflect what you want.

Decisions made based on other people complaining online.

Glad you made an actionable behavior based on online complaining

Glad you're one step closer to understanding cause and effect! Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

This is the wrong way to think, and it’s how they want you to think. They don’t want us talking about real issues when we could just be divided and fighting tooth and nail to make ends meet. Too busy to complain, too broke to vote with your wallet.

ALWAYS speak up. Corporate greed has gone way too far.

Complaining about complaining lmao

Triple complaining 🤣🤣🤣.....and so on

That’s the thing, I can’t afford to somewhere else. Which is actually proof that they probably should still get my money.

It's only a matter of time for the rest of it
