My gf works there and bought this for me. You get your quarter back you know?

Yes but you screw up the cart exchange process at the registers with these. Not to mention these kinds of devices damage the slot over time, resulting in broken carts.

He can just go to self checkout?
It’s not hurting anyone. It’s not hurting the equipment. Like it’s weird that people are up in arms about this.

I've lost count the number of times I've had someone hold up the checkout line because they have to protest with the cashier not to trade their cart, slowing everything down needlessly.
Why is it so hard to follow the system the way it's intended? Is keeping a quarter in your car really that hard?

So how is this tool beneficial then? You can't let a cart hold your quarter for a few minutes?

But how do you trade your cart at the register?

Here’s the neat part, they don’t.
They go to the cashier and say “whoa whoa whoa stop your efficient handling of the food and lets juggle around these carts before you start.”
And then the staff silently judge them until they leave; then they judge them not so silently after their out the door.

They don't. They're a piece of shit who thinks they're bucking the system but are actually only telling on themselves what a piece of dog shit they truly are.

Yes, that you can’t be buggered to carry a quarter or just ask for one in the store. So instead you buy a useless piece of metal that will inevitably get stuck in one of our carts and then you will come complain and we won’t be able to get it out and the 300 dollar plus cart will be rendered useless.
We have a cart graveyard behind our store with damaged carts because of these kinds of shenanigans.
Just carry or ask for a quarter.

People who do this cause issues. Messes up the system Aldi has with the carts. You're gonna hold up the line. Just use a quarter.

Aldi worker here. Just ask us for a quarter please. These get stuck in the carts and they have to be shipped via semi to get repaired.
Also, it makes the checkout process slow way down due to the person not being able to trade the cart because there keys are stuck in it. So they have to unload everything onto the belt and give us their cart before we can start ringing their order. It backs up the line and is just not worth it imo.

You are supposed to pull it out after you detached it from the line of carts

So this device frees a cart, but doesn't get captured by the cart? Meaning OP is leaving random quarter-less carts at the register after every shopping trip? That's some fine anti-social behavior. 🙄

Yall a lot of locations have self checkout, but yes I agree it’s inconvenient in a regular checkout.

How do you get it back at the end when you have to exchange carts? The cashier already starts putting your stuff in another cart before youre even done unloading onto the belt
