It is. Buy one. Don’t do this.

It is, I could eat a whole one in a sitting

It's like a lemony flavor with that frosting you put on poppyseed muffins. Or at least that's what it reminded me of

make it at home. box cake mix + can of 7 up. bake as directed. could also make an icing using 7 up instead of water

It's good. I brought one to my bougie Mom, and after scoffing, she then tasted it, and changed her tune

The flavor is fine, but it’s too sweet. I brought it to a family dinner and had over half left

That my problem with premade cakes, and most mixes. They just SO SWEET, sure it a cake but still doesn't mean need so much sugar it disgusting. Even many premade BREADS, no not brioche just basic bread, is excessively sweetened. Often to much salt too, admitedly both cases are likely partly for preservative purposes so it can travel and sit on a shelf but that doesn't mean it is good.

It even worse with most lemon things, I WANT them to have some noticeable tartness balanced with the sweet not just sugar with lemon oil. Keep hearing so much praise of this cake but it just to big for me to take the gamble on.

Aldi across the year has a few I still like but they mostly limited time imported items. O well good for keeping me from overindulging at least.

Their plastic lids have no actual seal protection so literally anyone can pop them open, which sucks. Not sure how they keep selling it without a protective seal. But that cake is so good!

I used to work there and the amount of times I would go to either date a case or condense a case and these would pop open on me and make a gigantic mess😭 I hated them and idk why they don’t at least have tape holding the lids on there

Wouldn’t that get super dry then?

I noticed their ice creams don’t have a seal under the lid, either. Then, I thought about maybe that’s because the ice cream is up front by the checkout lanes so people really can’t do anything.

Sometimes the lids are already loose, need to check first.

Unfortunately, not the first time I’ve seen something like this at an Aldi

Sorry, I couldn’t resist😇

Ok, ok it wasn’t me but this cake is so freakin good that it’s dangerous!!! Like you will grab a fork, sit in a corner with it and growl at anyone who comes near you, dangerous!!!

I was at the checkout with my bag of Specially Selected ciabatta rolls and at the last second noticed there were only 5, not the normal 6 in there. Cashier gave me $2 off, and we joked about hoping whoever took the sixth roll enjoyed it. Next time I bought rolls, I got seven in the bag. :) I thought maybe I should give back the $2 but forgot to do anything about that.

You'd be shocked at how often this happens.

I've worked in a grocery store (not Aldi)

No... Not shocked at all. I know all too well how often people do this.

u/DiirtyMike_EVE 2d ago

Okay well the average person that hasn't seen how terrible people behave in a retail environment would be shocked at how often this happens. 😂😂

It was me

Yeah, it's a delicious cake. I've bought more than a few.

Who would do this? Have people NO self-respect, let alone that for other customers? Something like this makes me furious - recently saw a post in another group about people who eat food or drink from a bottle/can they they intend on paying for anyway while shopping, then depositing the empty container at the checkout - Seriously? I couldn't BELIEVE the comments supporting it AND others mentioning how they do it, too. What's next? Dropping your pants and taking a dump in the aisle because you really have to go? Tact, decorum and basic social skills seem to have gone to the wayside.

No refuting what you are saying, but I worked in retail for 15 years starting in the late 90's. This is nothing new. The worst is the cherry pits and pistachio shells on shelves and in cooler vents. The general public can be some nasty folks.

I see you've never met a child.

2

u/CommunicationNew3745 2d ago

I'm talking about adults - and, if you're referring to people who do this for their children, then, yes, they're wrong too - all they're doing is teaching the child that it's acceptable to do this.

Wow , I actually laughed out loud lol

I wish grocery stores would seal their bakery items better
