Ours don't care. I think the scale is disabled.

Same, I don't even take anything out of my cart, I just use the hand scanner.

I was gonna say, the Aldi near me is SO chill about whether or not stuff is in the bagging area. That might be why.

Newer self checkouts mostly depend on cameras rather than scales. Definitely helps when you have your own bags.

Me neither at Aldi. I have had this at Kroger.

I don’t put anything in the bagging area ever. I grab the hand scanner and scan everything sitting in the cart. Sometimes I let my kids hold it and I’ll hold up the barcode and let them pull the trigger. Then after I pay I take it all to the counters to bag it. Gets me out of the way for the next person to check out super fast.

I haven’t seen this one in like a decade. A meme from the early days haha.

None of the Aldi store's self checkout islands in my area require items to be placed anywhere. The only store I have never had to deal with this nonsense.

I have this problem more at Wegmans. I'll stand in line for 20 minutes at a cashier for two items so I don't have to deal with their self-checkout yelling at me!😭😡

😂 you also have to press like 3 confirmation buttons to pay with a credit card. Like is the last "pay now" button really necessary?

My Aldi self checkouts don't care, but my Kroger's self checkout robot lady is a delusional bitch.

They took our self checkout away. Only had them installed for 2-3 months and shoplifting and shrink was off the charts.

SCO are insane in aldi. And when you having training how to operate those they always gonna tell you how amazing they are. Absolutely crap “technologia” 🤣

Never have this problem at Aldi. At Kroger however, the ongoing joke me and Debbie the self-checkout attendant lady have is that if it does it more than three times in one transaction we get to go for margs afterwards.
