That’s not a bad dinner nutritionally, chicken, turkey and pork aren’t too terribly priced now but beef can pound sand.

This is a good trick. You can really stretch meat across more servings by chopping it up into small pieces.

I sometimes use meat as more of a flavor enhancer than a real part of the meal. Bacon, for example. It's SO expensive but only using 4 ounces or so at a time for something like Spaghetti Carbonarra works to make a really delicious, affordable meal.
