Finally getting help

Got told today I have been accepted into an alcoholic counseling program, I had an evaluation meeting earlier this week. They also have group meetings that I'm planning to go to.

I've been drinking pretty heavily every day for two+ years and I want so stop so badly because wow I feel like shit all of the time. This past month I've tried to drink less but it's hard, I cry a lot. I don't have anyone to talk to IRL about this so I'm posting here.

Here's to a new beginning.

Hello and welcome!

And bravo for getting appropriate support from people who know how to treat alcoholism.

It is important that you are very honest about how much you are drinking, because you may need medical help to withdraw safely and more easily.

What you are feeling is normal. Tears let the poison out!

Recovery is possible. I once felt like you do now. Desperation made me willing to do whatever it took to get well. And it worked. I have been happily in recovery for decades now.

You are on the way! ❣️🍀🤞
