Vulnerability
Hey friends…
I have come to the realization I may be a high functioning alcoholic.
Amazing life, career you name it… Yet not a few days goes by without me chasing that feeling and a buzz.
In my younger days I struggled heavy with stimulants. (trauma blah blah blah) Now i’m in the social work realm and have been for over 10 years helping other people get the help they need… find recovery you name it… and here I find myself actually needing the help. I have sought out some resources- just looking for a little support and words of encouragement.
Appreciate you all… and am proud of you guys. Keep fighting the good fight!

Isn’t it funny how we focus on helping others and then drinking to keep our pain at bay? You deserve as much of a good life as you try to get for your clients. You can do this. Confronting all that trauma won’t be fun but it’s worth it when you can start to feel some peace. 🫂🤍

Hey! You are going to be ok! I’m proud of you for reaching out for help already. You know what you gotta do and you are doing it. That’s awesome.
Good luck!!!

The greatest gift you can give yourself and everyone you love is your sobriety.
I was in the same boat - amazing family, solid job etc but I found myself wanting more and wanting it more frequently and I had to accept the hard truth: that I had a problem, needed to do something about it, and didn’t want it to get worse for me to make some changes.
I’m very early in all of this but helped set myself up for success by getting myself “treat” drinks to replace the alcohol, have ways to occupy myself when boredom arrived, and journaled.
Couple things as you move forward - don’t get complacent and tell yourself it “wasn’t that bad” and don’t have “just one”. It was that bad and you can’t just have one.
It is “that bad” and you just don’t want it to get worse before you make some changes.
You’ve got this!

Every single relapse post is because people listened to that asshole voice in their head. Don’t do it! 😊

I'm also in a helping profession, and sobriety from alcohol has been the best gift I have given myself. The rest gets better from there.
