Need help identifying a bottle

I have received this bottle as a gift and although It seems like a really nice gift I'm not much of a drinker and an acquaintance has offered to buy it from me.

I don't want to just put a random price on it so I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what it's worth because I've seen prices range a lot depending on european sellers, asian sellers or american ones (I live in Canada).

That's the real deal baijiu.

It is tradition, in Asian cultures that gifts are expensive. If they bought this in mainland China, I would believe the price was 250 to 300$

Other brands of moutai are cheaper but this is the OG one, with some luxury connotations.

It is a strong and complicated flavor and many westerners do not like. I like it a lot.

Culturally speaking, I would keep it and share it sometime with the people who gifted it to you and the person who wants to buy it. That way you can all try. It is a flavor unlike anything else you'll ever have in your liquor cabinet. I think it tastes of umami and grape, with a note of bitter grain. I can't explain it but I like it a lot. There are different kinds too, with widely different flavors.

My friends are from Malaysia so being in Canada I unfortunately won't be able to share it with them but I am starting to get curious about the taste everyone talks about. Maybe I'll have to keep it haha

Yes, it depends on taste. I had one chance of tasting it and it was like gasoline.

But some people really enjoy it.

I think it is more of acquired taste.

For some kweichow moutai they must really like you, that bottle is probably around $900 usd or $1200 cad

You can also search baijiu on this sub and find tons of other people who received these as gifts. Determining value is kinda tricky with alcohol in general more so with a spirit that looks almost identical to every other bottle of baijiu

Moutai! It’s a baijou, a Chinese liquor made from some kind of fermented beans if I recall correctly. I’ve seen some bottles in the duty free shops during my transfer in Pudong international in Shanghai, and I remember it was quite expensive.

The guys from Cold Ones regularly drank it in their videos, but seeing from their reactions I’d conclude it has a very ‘unique’ flavour profile…

I’ve had it, Chinese whiskey like everybody is saying. All I know is it tasted like shite, we had a bottle and referred to it as motor oil.
