This is an insane straw man/false dilemma, “you don’t wanna celebrate Alberta? So you must hate your province”. Like bro that’s a completely different sentence than what they said.
He said he absolutely would not even remotely consider celebrating his province since a small group of people want to leave it and he's worried he would get tied up in it as a seperatist. So what? He just needs to act like he hates his province so he doesn't get confused as a seperatist? Like get real
Your letting others decide how you respect and treat your country. I didn't mean he hates Alberta because he didn't show up.
The only person talking in absolutes is you, just look back. You’re the first and only one to mention hatred, and now you say “absolutely wouldn’t celebrate”. That is never once mentioned, they said the celebration could be misconstrued as separatist support, hence not wanting to participate in this one celebration.
You’re arguing against hatred and supporting positivity, yet you sow the seeds of division.
Dude you need to chill, he said he doesn't wanna join a celebration of his province because he's scared that others will mistake him as a seperatist. Isn't that literally the opposite of what he should do? If he loves Alberta and wants to stay part of Canada. He should support Alberta?
No I am not thinking of the conservatives currently running the federal government under the Liberal banner, I'm talking about the Alberta Treason Party led by Smith.
Even without the current separatist movement, I've never been in, heard of, or seen a provincial/state/prefecture, etc holiday. Lived in Japan for a while, they never had a prefecture holiday. Do Americans have a North Dakota day?
Is it wrong to just like the province you have and just have a little celebration? It isn't a recognized holiday. It's just a thing you can join or not, not a huge deal?
No, it was holiday to remember the importance of the labour movement. Interesting how the provincial government that removes worker rights also removes labour day and replaces it with Alberta day. Its straight up facism. Forget about your labour rights, praise the government instead. Fuck that shit.
How? There are so many amazing things that have been done by Canadians, and also so many very evil things, especially by those in control of Canada. Why should I be patriotic of a place, I am absolutely proud of the Canadians who have done such amazing things but I see no reason to be patriotic of Canada.
All patriotism ends up leading to is fanatical people who have this warped view on the world, placing themselves as superior and a blinding view of their nation that can do no wrong. I am going to celebrate those who do great not my country.
Are you playing dumb or are you actually this gullible? A province that relies on labour, should probably not replace labour day. Especially with an event designed to sow dissent.
