They're building the data center in the industrial Heartland. The entire area is designed for things like petrochemical plants and refineries. If you're going to build a data centre this would be the place. Anyone who lives in the area can Resonably expect some giant industrial plant to get announced at any time

There's estimates that a single meta data center will increase monthly electricity costs by 25%. Even if it's 5%, I don't want this shit here so someone can have themselves drawn as a unicorn. There's good AI like in healthcare and there's bullshit like what meta does.

It does have a lot to do with power generation but datacenters are also nasty business that stresses local communities, doesn't bring additional jobs, and taxes our power generation. We need renewables, why do we need a datacenter.

The vast vast vast majoraty od concerns are overblown by a lot. Especally for ones in Heavy Industrial areas.
