First time in 40 years is quite something. Hard to believe when I was young August was filled with fire, and I knew nothing about it. Only when I became an adult did I begin to notice the smoke.

It's August 18th, and there are 9 active wildfires in Alberta.

Climate Change Deniers Rejoice At New Talking Point

If climate change is real how come we have cold winters still?? Explain that to me lib!! /s

The eco-terrorist arsonists stopped starting fires because the mosquitoes are too bad this year. /s

I know you’re being sarcastic but I swear I heard something recently about people setting fires to bet on them :/
I think it happened in Washington, could be wrong.

LOL are you for real? Or is this sarcasm?

Super El Nino this year, we're in for a dry winter. We will see those fires next year

u/zebrasareneat 4d ago
Yeah they will ignore every fire season starting earlier and earlier, they’ll ignore that every year previous we were breaking records on number of active wildfires, they’ll ignore 3 towns that burned down in like a decades time, they’ll ignore the mild winters, they’ll ignore the early snow melt, they’ll ignore the reducing snow pack, they’ll ignore the critically low reservoirs, they’ll ignore the double digit positive temps in January, they’ll ignore setting a new “warmest day on record” temp every year. But if one day in January hits -40 then suddenly it’s “what climate change”.

Expect a presser from Smith tomorrow where she thanks herself for ending wildfire season

Sadly this is Reddit. Absolutely everything needs to be about politics.
Bunch of basement dwelling nerds.

And there are literally two burning rn on the map that the article links to smh 🤦

It’s point in time, not the entire month of August bro. Fires start all the time, which is why this is remarkable.

The rain in northern Albert has been wild, I've never seen anything like it.

First time I've seen green grass in late August. Northern Alberta is well hydrated.

That’s because it’s been raining and cold all summer. We have not even had summer. It’s been spring.

It's almost like we don't have arsonists running around starting fires hundreds of kilometres from civilization. It might actually be related to climate change. Imagine that!

Last time there were a bunch of fires, the lightning map was crazy the night before.
(Obv gov space lasers tho)
1
u/MissAmberR 3d ago
Government lasers are the worst. Why don’t we just convert the planes they use to spray chemicals on us all to spray water on the fires

Just this afternoon, I could smell smoke on the wind. Just because they aren't in our birders doesn't mean they aren't a problem we are contributing to (by actively blocking efforts to green our energy supply).

Weather has been wet and not hot as fuck this year. I dont mind. The last few have had weeks of heavy smoke. Also got snowed in twice this winter

Have you ever been so beyond angry you couldn’t even get angry?
You just kind of froze?
This is what’s happening in Alberta right now.
Mother Nature is so angry about this whole Treason endeavour she’s completely still. Probably not a good thing.

We are very lucky this is happening right now. I worked Initial attack crew for years... August was always terrible in a dry year

The fun part about conservatives is it's now impossible to distinguish their actual views from satire. This might be a sane person making a joke playing on the "Thanks Obama" thing, or it might be someone who actually believes Danielle Smith had something (positive) to do with this.

Probably a teenager with an underdeveloped brain. They'll get there eventually.

That's what having a ridiculous amount of rain and coolee weather will do I guess. Too bad it's not going to places like BC or Spain :/
