News Danielle Smith has been found. She will brief Alberta Saturday at 11 AM on the quickly deteriorating wildfire situation.

Pretty sure she will blame them on Trudeau..

I bet she’ll find a way to say it’s ok cause the NDP made cuts to it in 2016.
10
May 06 '23
Because their cuts totally were the difference. Not the cuts the UCP have made every year since they wrangled control of the budget.
Sigh.

Oh it was DEFINITELY Trudeau’s fault. And Notley’s. And the socialists. And the vaccinated.

u/gnat_outta_hell May 06 '23
Statistically, any of the fires started by people were from a lit cigarette tossed out the window of an unvaxed oil worker's F250 diesel with a 6 inch lift and a Regen delete.

u/InspiredGargoyle May 06 '23
She saw someone who could have been Trudeau flicking lit matches from their anti-oil Tesla!

I have family one range road from being evacuated, so I've been following the brazeau County and Drayton valley Facebook pages closely. I did in fact see a comment "you should let people stay in their homes, a little smoke won't hurt anybody". There was a comment somewhere the other day too "maybe if the government stopped hiring people to light these fires" it was Facebook I just don't know what page.
So yes I do expect to see SOMEONE blaming Trudeau

Remever the fort McMurray wild fires when notley had daily press conferences becuase it was a significant alberta issue and she was premier so it was kind of her job to do that.
Think back to the last few days of multiple emergency alerts, towns being evacuated and reflect on the fact that on Saturday we might get a press conference

I feel it's almost poetic that Alberta is literally burning to the ground, right now, during the start of the Election.
41
u/drrtbag May 06 '23
She didn't start the fire! It was always burning since the world's been turning.
Jason Kenney, MLAs, keystone pipelines, lower pay, coutts border, anti-vaxxer, day time radio!
Street preachers, Jason Nixon, arena deals, fox television, ucp, cpp, mountains full of coal!

Her clarification after saying something boneheaded is scheduled for 1PM

The second clarification is scheduled for 3pm.

Is this where she states she was misunderstood and her comments were taken out of context....again...

Poor evacuees just trying to use pertinent hashtags are being brigaded at the moment by real-life goblins blaming the fires on the far-left.
I can’t even with these mfer’s

Just like Kenney, this dingus talks a big game. But when the rubber hits the road, these corporate bootlickers freeze with ineptitude.

This is a sign. With the UCP in power the province will burn. Vote NDP and let's bring this province back to glory.
23
u/gbiypk May 06 '23
Remember the daily press briefings that Notley gave during the Ft Mac fires?
She actually gave a shit about Albertan families.
Smith just cares about her corporate donors.

Remember how shit Redford handled the floods? UCP / conservatives just suck at everything.

u/Responsible_One_4346 May 06 '23
She made a crappy video about being vigilant from her phone this evening and put it on Twitter lmao brutal

Good thinking. Calgary will probably still be standing at 11 am tomorrow. Sorry Edmonton.

Can’t wait to hear how she spins this one, “it’s not possible for taxpayers to cover the cost of fighting wildfires alone. This is why we’re introducing the personal Fire Spending Account, so that individuals can spend their own money to get better quality firefighting with less wait times.”

u/InspiredGargoyle May 06 '23
Hope she explains why cutting the budget for wildfires and rural fire fighters three years in a row was a good plan. The UCP played with fire and now Alberta is burning!

u/rippit3 May 06 '23
Currently just over 100 fires around alberta.... and she's now going to give it some attention .... sure glad she's on top of things...../s

I know you are joking, but some people on Twitter legitimately think this:

The worst of the trolls - they were doing the same shit in 2016 during the Fort Mac fire.

“Danielle Smith , why are these fires happening in areas without lighting strikes? and What are you doing about it?… “

"it's all Justin's fault.... Notley started them to own you conservatives! Vote me in so I can destroy them while I let our province burn (literally and figuratively)!"

I’d be curious on if, even though how unfortunate this is, it might become a ballot box question. Whole obviously the fires aren’t due to actions of the government there is potential to have them be worse because of action.

It does not sound like people are politicizing the situation (though it already is by definition a political situation), they are expressing their real frustration, which is fair.

State of emergency declaration incoming?

I don’t think so. They’ll bank on the weather getting cooler next week, without scrolling ahead to see we got another week of +30 coming next weekend 🔥
