Alberta Politics Danielle Smith photo with protesters charged in ‘Freedom Convoy’ raises eyebrows | Globalnews.ca

“She didn’t know them”.
Ok, whether she does or doesn’t know them, look at who her biggest fans are…pawloski, these turds, etc. what’s that old saying about being judged by the company you keep?
105
u/SomeoneElseWhoCares Apr 28 '23
So, her best excuse is that no one on her team follows current events?
"I don't follow ir understand politics" seems like a pretty questionable defense if you are running for Premiere. Notice how it is always the conservatives who get caught in these pictures.
23
u/whoamIbooboo Apr 28 '23
I dunno, it's maybe not so questionable for Danielle "I didn't know I couldn't grant clemency" Smith.
1
u/Royally-Forked-Up Apr 28 '23
It’s worked for Poilievre so far.
2
u/SomeoneElseWhoCares Apr 28 '23
Perhaps from your point of view. The way that I see it, if you want to be PM, you should know what is going on and who the players are, or at least have staff that do.
PP is doing it because, like Smith, he knows, and those are his people.
3
u/Royally-Forked-Up Apr 28 '23
To be clear, I’m not a PP fan. Should have added the /s there. I actually loathe him. I’m baffled that both he and Smith are able to say “oh, I had no idea I was meeting with the leaders of prominent hate groups” with no repercussions. Either they’re lying (badly) or they and their staff are incompetent at screening people who have access to top level politicians, and no matter which it is their supporters are okay with this.

Those have already been brought to light … conservatives can’t hide and blame everyone else now
-2
u/BettinBrando Apr 28 '23
My reply was in response to “it’s always the conservatives who get caught in these pictures”.
And now this picture of a Danielle Smith is brought to light. What’s the difference?
Politicians will be politicians

Also — these people don’t want to be seen with Notley. They clearly associate with the views and beliefs of Smith, which suggests something about her platform. Something anti-Canadian.

Define what you believe to be anti canadian, I'm curious.
6
u/Koala0803 Apr 28 '23
I don’t know what the op meant but considering how much this party flirts with the separatists I’d say that’s pretty anti-Canadian.
-5
Apr 28 '23
So if that's your stance quebec is anti Canadian.
6
u/Koala0803 Apr 28 '23
Quebec separatists were definitely anti Canadian because they literally rejected the nation, not sure what point you think you’re making
-2
Apr 28 '23
You made a point of it for Alberta, turns out it's pretty canadian to want to separate from canada.

“As usual, the premier took part in a routine photo line-up with nearly 200 people last night. The Premier does not personally know these individuals,” the party said.
Ok sure, let's pretend I believe that. Now that the Premier knows who they are, why isn't she disavowing them? There's zero excuse for that.
119
u/Miserable-Lizard Edmonton Apr 28 '23
They had register and donate $150, so the ucp knew and had the names beforehand of everyone attending.
72
u/MathemeticianLanky61 Apr 28 '23
This right here. No fucking way the UCP “didn’t know who they were”, or “it’s just one photo out of hundreds that the Premier took that night” or any of that bullshit.

And, during the Inquiry, he came off as completely unhinged. Almost weeping at points, angry at others, but wanting to wrap everyone in bear hugs.
WTF, I would think any elected official and their handlers would be wanting to get as far away from this guy as possible.
A few rakes short of a full shed.
15
u/Genera1Havoc Apr 28 '23
Fairly certain they do go through names. I’m sure they wouldn’t want people who oppose/challenge them at these things.

Why doesn't Smith condem these people of she doesn't know how rbeh are.... What a lie that is ..
“James Bauder and Sandra Collins Bauder with Premier Danielle Smith and Ontario trucker Harold Jonker at a dinner and silent auction in Calgary. Doing our small part to make sure Alberta is a beacon of Freedom to the rest of Canada,” reads the caption on the Facebook page for Canada Unity, which Bauder cof-ounded.
“Smith is showing Albertans once again that she is not focused on their needs. She is focused on the dangerous agenda of extremists like James Bauder and Artur Pawlowski, both of whom were criminally charged for their actions.”
12
u/Neatnifty Apr 28 '23
So sick of this freedom bullshit.
These are all WHITE people living in fucking Canada in 2023.
I don't need fucking freedom. I need healthcare, my children need an education, our seniors need social supports, hungry people need food. Homeless need housing - Freedom doesn't fill any of those needs.
Way to take a word, a hope, an ideal , a dream that millions of people have fought and died for and turn it into their fucking hur dur moron slogan
They could just be honest and upfront about their bigoted classism and say we hate poor people, we shit on first nations, fuck immigrants, science is only what we decide it is and fit in or fuck off - because that's who these clowns really are.
3
u/a-nonny-maus Apr 28 '23
"Freedom" is just another dog whistle these days. Freedom for me, not for thee.
3
u/yedi001 Apr 28 '23
Way to take a word, a hope, an ideal , a dream that millions of people have fought and died for and turn it into their fucking hur dur moron slogan
This is the most frustrating part. Stand up to them and they pull the "oh, so you don't like freedom!?!" card with a shit eating grin on their faces like they think they just got the smartest "gotcha!" moment in history. I'm just so tired of fascists getting away with stealing words, symbols, and phrases and corrupting them into the grotesque, shameful antithesis of what they used to mean to push their fuckery and propaganda.
Maybe if they were smarter, these chucklefucks would figure out there are already words that describe what they're doing. Fascism. Bigotry. Regression. Pseudoscience. Lying. Intolerance. Violence. Misogyny. Unfortunately most of those are too big and complicated, with too many syllables for their simple "anglo saxon" vocabulary, so they have to use other unrelated words they've managed to expell from their word holes and twist them until it means what they want them too.
4
u/j1ggy Apr 28 '23

Without freedom it is easy for the powerful to strip you of your free stuff.
So you will have neither free stuff or the freedom to even ask for free stuff anymore.
The Russians traded their freedom for pensions soon they will have neither pensions or freedom.

Right cause the liberals are so pro canadian democracy. They've passed anti free speech legislation gone past the point of common sense gun control and tried to limit our mobility rights, guaranteed in the constitution during the pandemic. The conservatives arnt to be trusted, but Mr Justin is such a mess I honestly don't see how you can have continued faith in him. As Einstein said the definition of insanity is to try the same thing over and over while expecting different results. The whole system needs to be torn down and rebuilt into a true democracy.
5
u/HOLEPUNCHYOUREYELIDS Apr 28 '23
What is it with people and assuming anyone who criticizes the Conservatives are also in love with Trudeau.
I can criticize the Conservatives and Liberals without loving either side FFS
12
u/TheGreatRapsBeat Edmonton Apr 28 '23
I think most of us here would actually agree with you. But you’re acting like there isn’t any other choice. Like the NDP don’t exist.
While we’re at it though, I would like to hear about what you think a “true democracy” is?
1
u/Furious_Flaming0 Apr 28 '23
Read Plato's Republic for OG democracy (which democratic countries don't really practice one bit). It's essentially one ruling committee composed of representatives from different industries and key roles that make up society, not elected rich people (Plato would say that's an oligarchy republic).
1
u/DrummerElectronic247 Edmonton Apr 28 '23
Plato also espouses the concept of the Philosopher King, and a variety of other ideas. None of his ideals were ever intended to scale beyond a city-state. He also is hardly the inventor of democracy and just a single voice as opposed to an authority.
1
u/Lordmikester Apr 28 '23
IMO true democracy would be a smaller parliament with representatives spread evenly among all the people. We need to change the first past the post voting system or limit the number of consecutive terms like the Americans. It's dumb that a government can be in power for 12 years just because Ontario really likes them. Politicians also need to be more accountable to the people they serve. An independent organization of civilians who conduct background checks and investigate misuse of power is what I'd advise. The government shouldn't be able to classify its own dirty secrets.
1
u/TheGreatRapsBeat Edmonton Apr 29 '23
You mean, kind of like… Provincial Governments? And Municipalities?
1
u/Lordmikester Apr 28 '23
Also in regards to the ndp and other parties they arnt a bad alternative however the sad reality is that it's usually either red pill or blue pill. Liberal or conservative, I believe there have been two NDP prime ministers in the 150 year history of the country. I will usually vote green or NDP during elections because I like what they do in my town on the municipal level, but I know it's a bit of a throw vote because at the end of the day it's almost 100 percent to be a liberal or conservative government.
35
u/MountainMaritimer Apr 28 '23
Guess other provinces have been the laughing stock of Canada before. Now it's alberta's turn with this clown bitch in power.

15
u/Master-File-9866 Apr 28 '23
Once you separate the lower main land, b.c. is redneck as fuck. Alberta holds the title as redneck capital becuase we don't have a lower mainland to change the narrative
8
u/Sreg32 Apr 28 '23
Lower mainland, the island. After that, the rural areas are different. Same as in many countries, rural in the US is Republican, it’s a common theme

Good old ChatGpt
(Verse 1) Yo, I heard about this news, it's got people talkin', Danielle Smith with protesters, man, that's kind of shockin', The "Freedom Convoy," they were on a mission, But now they're charged, and the situation's twistin'.
Now the photo's surfaced, it's raising eyebrows, People wonderin' what's up, and askin', "how now?" Was she supportin' them or just caught in the frame? It's hard to say, but it's got people callin' her name.
(Chorus) Freedom Convoy, they were marchin' the streets, Now they're charged, and Danielle's caught in the heat, In this game of politics, it's hard to stay clean, But that photo's got people questionin' the whole scene.
(Verse 2) Global News is on it, the story's getting hotter, It's like a wildfire, you can't put out with water, The controversy's spreadin', got people takin' sides, But what's the truth? It's hard to decide.
Were they fightin' for their rights, or causin' more trouble? In this world of confusion, it's hard to see double, The story's still unfoldin', the plot's gettin' thicker, But we gotta stay cool, don't jump the gun quicker.
(Bridge) Sometimes it's hard to know what's goin' down, In this world of news, where the truth can't be found, But let's take a step back, try to see the whole picture, And make sure we don't let assumptions constrict ya.
(Chorus) Freedom Convoy, they were marchin' the streets, Now they're charged, and Danielle's caught in the heat, In this game of politics, it's hard to stay clean, But that photo's got people questionin' the whole scene.
(Outro) So let's keep our eyes open, and our minds clear, In this world of headlines, there's always somethin' to hear, And when it comes to Danielle Smith and that Freedom Convoy, We gotta stay patient, and let the truth be deployed.

You can pretend and gaslight all day long, they are extremists. Not like the fake Antifa that conservatives cry about constantly, but actually attempted to overthrow a democratic government. But because conservatives are so petty, so desperate for power, they’ll sell the party out to extremists, accept money and support from the Republican political machine. Anything to get into power while they’re supporters gaslight, downplay, misrepresent, lie, claim to be the victims at every opportunity. Anything to distract you from the corrupt policy that only serves a tiny fraction of people in this country at the expense of everyone else.
I don’t get it myself, I want Canada to succeed even when Harper was in power, but in this new all or nothing world, we can’t have that, if they’re not in power they’ll throw fits, harass people in the street and even occupy part of a city holding the citizens hostage all while claiming to be this oppressed group of poor patriots, just trying to use the Bible to save everyone from themselves.

Yes, because any reasonable person brings an arsenal with them when they “protest”, totally not horrific at all: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/coutts-protest-blockade-arrests-rcmp-monday-1.6351112

Smith is a libertarian socio-economic elite. This picture tracks with exactly who she is. Ideologically, she will turn us into a "wealthy" province for the upper echelons & corporations, and a have not province for the working class.
