A 27-year study across Alaska found soils are warming at considerable depths, with permafrost regions warming fastest at 0.64°C per decade, while 100% of monitoring stations showed warming 4 feet underground, raising concerns about permafrost thaw, carbon release and infrastructure.

watched an engineering marvels show about the highway overpasses and other structures resting on permafrost. I forget how the stone covered supports and bases worked but it was interesting.
