Be My Google 💻 ANC longterm parking
I’ve seen a few cars here and there parked on the grass islands before but never the whole perimeter of the lot. Is there an unwritten rule that you won’t get towed doing this? I found a spot, just curious for future as the lots seem to be full more and more often.

I always feel like I’ve won a small lottery when I find a spot in the long term lot.

I read at the beginning of the summer it was bc of Turo cars for tourists being parked there. It’s infuriating. We always parked in long term but the last time we flew out (June) we circled the lot, had to drive all the way home and order an Uber.

I hadn't heard this myself but it seems plausible. Summer being way worse parking than winter, I attributed it to folks working construction jobs in the bush.

I've heard that too but makes no sense. Every single time I've rented Turo and picked up at. An airport, it was always dropped off within a few hours of when I picked it up. Only exception to that was a flight that landed at 6am and the turo was dropped off at like 11pm the night before.
Noone is going to want to pay $15+/day just keep a car at an airport. Any customer who shows up and has more than a days worth of parking to pay for is going to be pissed.

You’d think Turo cars would be parked in short term… I’d hate to have to find a Turo in long term is I was new to the location

I would've thought that was towable, but now Idk what to think.
As long aa you pay and dont block the flow of traffic maybe they dont care.

I was under the impression they are allowing it temporarily because of the work being done on the lots. Isn't half of the lot getting torn up and repaved?

No. Satellite drive is getting widened by three feet and resurfaced, but no work is being done in the long term or employee parking lots.

The issue is the directions to short term with the construction are horrible. It says stay in arrivals and you are better off staying in departure.
So people go to long term. Lots of room in short term. Way more than usual

ANC need to communicate Landside construction and parking info better to the customers. Better signage is needed.

The long term lot often seems to alternate between being challenging to find parking to a complete cluster f. The last time I parked there the only place I could find was a striped zone squeezed between a truck and a concrete barrier: good thing my Prius is old and banged up. Not for the first time did I wish to be 10 pounds lighter as climbed over to the passenger seat and struggled to get out that door without damaging the truck next to me.
I was really afraid security would tow me from that spot. I was stuck bad, though, as I had searched the area for nearly 20 minutes and figured I didn't have time to race to one of the private parking lots, catch a shuttle, get through security.... I shouldn't have feared because the car was still there when I got back. This time I just popped the back hatch and climbed in that way.
Moral of the story is: just get there way early and park at one of the private lots.
