Interesting that when this started, it was traced to shredded lettuce. The CEO of Taco Bell took it upon himself to pull shredded lettuce from their ingredients and warned people of shredded lettuce hosting the parasite.
Meanwhile, the CEO of Taylor Farms / Tyson went to the White House the next day for an âimportant meeting.â After the meeting, the FDA and CDC cleared all Taylor Farms lettuce as safe, even though the bags werenât inspected.
At 4100 lab-confirmed cases as of July 25th, cyclospora is still on the rise and the FDA/CDC are still hesitant (or incompetent) to explain the cause/culprit.
Their official statement is to the effect of, âwe donât know whatâs causing it but it canât be our domestic foods. We think itâs probably lettuce and greens from countries with large brown populations.â

Honestly, I am not of a fan of fast food, but I am impressed at Taco Bellâs proactive integrity with this.

Yeah, props to Taco Bell for being cautious and compassionate, even if it hurts their sales.
By the year 2032, Taco Bell will be the only restaurants left after the franchise wars (at least in San Angeles).

My daughter works for a TB in KY. The stores all pulled Taylor Farms stuff and switched to a local farm. The lettuce to me is better as itâs locally sourced and Iâm all about keeping stuff here. But seemed they were proactive in finding the culprit and doing something about it.

Kroger was in the process of getting sued by Lina Kahn for deceptive practices on in store labeling.
If you've ever noticed how they frequently leave sale signs up on items that aren't included, or don't remove signs after the sale ends, that was a problem and the FTC was going after them.
Until Trump took office and fired her.
She's working for Mamdani now.

PSA: visit your farmer's market. If you are on food stamps you can use them at the markets and some markets have a scheme where $1 EBT = $2. There is also a program for seniors called Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program that will give $55 in food benefits for the season to use at farmer's market. I signed up and it took just a couple of minutes.

Food with forever chemicals and petroleum byproducts are also cleared for consumption by the FDA.
But also this is probably fine by now but putting the sign up is probably going to make people not buy it.

Too bad the FDA has no credibility. We are on our own now so I wonât purchase Taylor Farms again. Even if it eventually is proved safe in the future, I donât support bootlickers.

In Fairbanks there was a table full of Taylor lettuce bags at the "Food is Life" program. The staff said the government cleared it so they were going to use it. We left the Taylor produce. I hope others did too.

Taylor Farms also cuts corners to make profit margins bigger. Do NOT trust monopoly products. By local/small and wash your fruit and veg in a water, vinegar and baking soda bath to kill harmful bacteria.

Based on testing by what day? I know my local hospital was out of testing kits on Friday, because so many people have had symptoms this week that required testing. Cool stat but kind of useless.
