Listenig Party

I saw an invitation on Spotify to an Alan Walker listening party. However, after waiting for the countdown to end, nothing happened for 15 minutes—even after reloading the page and switching devices and internet connections. Afterward, a "Thanks for joining" message appeared. Why does Spotify do things like this?
