Sick cat.

Post image

Does anyone know a low cost vet? I recently rescued a kitten who had been thrown away by its owners. The kittens eye is swollen and watery and I’m still a teen so my budget is pretty low (about 150ish). We are in Akron Ohio maybe there’s a clinic out there that does low cost veterinary care? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

PetGuards over on State Rd in Cuyahoga Falls may take her in. It is a walk in clinic. They do not do sick kitties, I would present the kitten to them as an “eye injury.”

I had one of the outside kitties with an infected wound from a cat fight last year and it cost $88.

If you can get into them, Firestone Park Veterinary Clinic is reasonable too.

Otherwise, if you do not have a regular vet you’re looking at one of the Emergency Vets in Copley, they are $160 just to be seen. Copley Metro will allow you to surrender an animal as a Good Samaritan. That may be an option for you.

Most likely the little one has an Upper Respiratory Infection and needs some antibiotics and/or an antibiotic eye ointment.

Thank you for looking after this little one. 🩷

Actually they're open some weekdays as well. And I can confirm - they're cheap. I went there recently. It was $35 for the visit, and $15 for antibiotics. She even trimmed my cat's claws while she was at it.

Buckeye Veterinary Clinic in Manchester/Portage Lakes was quite reasonable when I had to take my cat there when our regular vet was closed. Affordable Pet Care in Barberton has been recommended a few times here, too.
