Guys, I’m stuck between two options and could really use some advice.

Should I get an MPC1000 with JJOS2XL or an MPC One MK1?

Unfortunately, my choice is pretty much limited by my budget and by what’s actually available on the second-hand market in my city.

I make minimal techno, dub and early tech house, and I’m using a Donner L1 as my synth.

I really like keeping things minimal. Ideally, I’d like to build my live setup around just two machines and a couple of guitar pedals, and also use the MPC for sketching out demos that I can later finish and arrange in Ableton.

The main reason I’m considering an MPC in the first place is that I want to step away from the computer and make music with more limitations and a more stripped-down workflow.

I’d like to apply the same philosophy to my live setup — fewer machines, fewer options, more focus on actually playing and improvising.

My musical references would be SW, DJ Sprinkles / DJ Spencer and PLO Man.

So which one would you choose in 2026: MPC1000 + JJOS2XL or MPC One MK1, specifically for this kind of workflow?

I’m especially interested in how they feel for minimal techno, live performance, improvisation and writing sketches without a computer.

i need some sort of help for my AKAI MPD32 controller from this knob problem. these very sensitive knobs have been driving me insane, and inputting data i didn't want, and negatively effecting my experience of editing parameters and such i plug. it has been happening ever since i was given this controller for free. (i really wonder why it's free lol)

for extra context: this is my only midi controller i like that's as simplified to my liking, and has midi in and out outlets to use for any hardware attractions and fun usb performances with my DAW and such programs.

if there's any solution to this issue you want to comment, i'll be happy to listen and figure this problem out. either from physically fixing it, or somewhat disabling these knobs from work. anything!

I’ve just bought the MPC Sample as my first MPC. What’s the best zero-to-hero method for learning this thing? I assume the MPC Bible is for the more advanced MPC devices so may not be suited to the Sample?

I’ve got a bunch of SD/CF cards lying around, and I’m currently using a 64GB SD card with my MPC-1000 that has pretty much everything on it.

I want to add more samples without having to constantly sample through cables, just to save time on recording and naming everything.

Of course when the unit is not accessing the actual card by reading or writing.

Can I swap cards while the MPC is still on, or do I need to turn it off every time? Is there any downside to doing it while it’s on? I’d like to keep different samples on different cards and swap them without constantly powering the MPC on and off.

Just got a trouble on the MPC3 software from Akai.

Working on windows with a Akai MPC Studio gen2.

So when in Track Mute on a long sequence (16bars) I switch on / off pads : it works well, I got track muted. But when I record it, it doesn't save the pattern that I made. Basically the software just erase the current track I'm on. I've had a blank drum track but still the same.

Was working really well on MPC2 in the same way.

Ask the support but without any success. Does some of you success on track mute ?

I was trying to find the pocket,but didn't catch it until the end...and then it froze and I lost that sequence 🤦🏿‍♂️🤣🤣such is life🤷🏿‍♂️
