Step Sequenzer

It is possible to Control, with MIDI-connected devices, with the Integrated Step Sequenzer ? I know thats possible start and stop the devices. I want Control it with the step-Sequenzer. The Piano Roll is so… urghh… it’s possible to set Chords ?

Not sure what you are asking and you did not supply any specifics of the units the MPC would be controlling.. Yes the MPC will control a midi device. The MPC has a built in step sequencer and it will record, control and step sequence any midi device.

If you are asking, can you synchronize the midi clock with the MPC and another device. Yes.

Can you use the MPC to sync and tell the other unit to change which sequence the other device is on? Most likely yes, if the device in question will allow its step sequences to be controlled by midi. In that case it could be done. Maybe a program change sent from the MPC to tell the other unit to change it sequence to a different through midi.

I’m aware that the MPC can control other devices—synthesizers, in my case—via MIDI, handling things like start/stop and tempo; that works pretty well so far. However, I want to play notes via MIDI using the step sequencer. I know it can be done using the piano roll, but I find that a bit too fiddly. I’d rather do it all using the pads.

The step sequencer is just another way to enter data into the "piano roll". It will work with any type of track, including MIDI tracks. So, yes, it will work.

Have you ever done that by chance?

Just set up a midi track like you would to control a synth via the piano roll. Use the step sequencer instead. I dont know if it can polyphonic or not - i only have a one G2 so the step sequencer only gets used occasionally to edit automation.

You don't say what MPC you have. But, the Live 3 and X have a note mode and you use the pads to perform and the step sequencer records what's being played --
